Check out his stats for the semi and finals. 29-6-51 .451 - vs. Pepp Absolutely ridiculous. Those are like HS stats and he is posting this against an elite college team. Max Lipsitz another western NY product had 17 kills in the final. PSU men's and women's team win Nat'l championship in the same year.

He was hitting that ball on the twelve foot line. Keeping in mind that PSU had trouble keeping Carroll in check and that they were still able to out gun them was amazing. It beg's the question, PSU was willing to run the middle's, while Pepperdine only had three attempts to their middle's. Given that Anderson and Carroll essentially balanced each other out, were the middle's the difference for PSU? Regardless of your answers, the match was great to watch, and it's always nice to see the east coast show that we can create great volleyball players and teams that not only compete, but win against great west coast teams.

Hulse is a first year middle, he actually was the starting setter at Rutgers-Newark for two years and Jayne is only a freshman with tremendous upside. So it was really Caroll and maybe schelppenbach versus Andersen, Holt, and Lipsitz. These two team return almost everybody with both teams losing their setters but with highly recruited players waiting in the wings. There is a chance of a rematch next year this time at BYU where altitude can make a difference.
