Maybe the Mets are going to pick up Lugo to replace Jose Reyes at SS and then get rid of Jose for prospects like you suggest. FYI - mlbtraderumors.com does report that the Mets are talking to the Red Sox about Lugo.

If the premise of Omar and the Mets is to consider trading Reyes in the offseason, then acquiring Lugo would make sense provided that the Red Sox eat half of the remaining contract. If Omar and the Mets have no intentions of trading Reyes, then acquiring Lugo would not make sense. Baseball Mom, I hope that Omar does not bring in a 33 year old washed up shortstop. I like Alex Cora. If Reyes is shipped out after the season, let Cora hold fort until the phenom Wilmer Flores is ready. I am extremely impressed with Dan Warhen and the super job he has done with the staff especially Mike Pelfrey.

If they can trade Reyes, maybe Crosby who is showing some verstaility can be a stop gap. I am not happy with them pursuing Lugo either but I rather see Lugo than A. Reyes or Ramon Martinez. I wish that they can dump off Castillo already but that ain't going to happen. I really would like to know what goes through Omar's mind. And his assistants as well. Do these men have a plan or what?

BM, THE WILPON'S SHOULD HAVE CUT TIES WITH OMAR AND MANUEL BEFORE THIS SEASON STARTED. THIS TEAM NEEDED A SHAKEUP AND THE WORST THING THAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED--HAPPENED. DELGADO WENT ON A TEAR & MURPHY LOOKED LIKE AN EVERY DAY PLAYER. I WILL NEVER FORGET THE FANS FACES AROUND ME THE LAST WEEK AT SHEA AGAINST FLORIDA AND CHICAGO WHEN PEOPLE WERE SHAKING THEIR HEADS THAT OMAR GOT A 4 YEAR EXTENSION. RIDICULOUS. I THINK WE SOLD OUR SOULS TO THE DEVIL IN EXCHANGE FOR'86. PULSIPHER, WILSON AND ISRINGHAUSEN WERE JINXED BY APPEARING ON COVER OF SI. LASTINGS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SPECIAL. EVANS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A PLAYER. GOMEZ IN MINNY? LUCKY THEY GOT SANTANA FOR HIM, MULVEY, HUMBER. AND I AM SURE THAT FERNANDO MARTINEZ WILL BE A MORE THAN SERVICEABLE PLAYER TO ANOTHER TEAM SOME DAY JUST LIKE SINGLETON AND OTIS BUT HE JUST AIN'T GONNA DO IT FOR THE METS. DITTO FOR REYES. BELTRAN AND WRIGHT STAY. REYES NEEDS TO GO. ATHLETES NEED TO PLAY NOT BE ON THE DL. AND I BLAME THE METS FOR POOR PR ON THE INJURIES TO CHURCH, DELGADO, BELTRAN AND REYES. THEY ARE WHAT THEY ARE. A CLASSLESS ORGANIZATION WHO FIRED A MANAGER ON THE WEST COAST IN THE EARLY AM HOURS. THIS MANAGER AND GM NEED TO GO ALSO. RID THEMSELVES OF LOSER IMAGE AND FIND AN IDENTITY AND PERSONALITY AGAIN. AS FAR AS BOBBY CROSBY GOES, I JUST LIKE HIM. DOESN'T MEAN HE IS ANY BETTER OR WORSE THAN LUGO. I AM JUST SO SICK OF OMAR AND HIS STOCKPILING APPROACH AND COMMITMENT TO THE LOSING CORE OF PLAYERS. MORE THAN THAT, HE AND BERNEZARD HAVE DONE A DISGUSTING JOB OF BUILDING THE FARM SYSTEM. DISGUSTING. THAT'S WHY HE NEEDS TO SIGN RETREADS LIKE JULIO FRANCO, FREDDIE GARCIA, TIM REDDING (I LIKED THAT ONE), TATIS, BERROA, WILLIE MO PENA. HORRIBLE TO SUPPLEMNT THE FARM SYSTEM WITH THIS GARBAGE.

HORRIBLE TO SUPPLEMNT THE FARM SYSTEM WITH THIS GARBAGE. One of your best posts. I agree with you 100%. You sound mad. I hope that the heat in AZ isn't getting to you. Believe me, I am going through the same stomach problems here in NY. I hope that you are still going to a few games at Chase when the Mets go to play the D'Backs after AZ comes to NY. This is all very hard to tolerate. Truly gut wrenching with all of August & September to endure.

This season has truly been a complete nightmare! Omar "The Tent Maker" is a joke. Freddie "Coupon" gives him a four year extension after the last two September disasters. It is truly amazing to see the bonehead moves or non moves that this organization makes. I am not going to the games when the Mets come in to play the DBACKS! My patience is completely gone and I have better things to do than watch a complete chinese fire drill on the field. I haven't missed a game since the Mets have come in and I am going back to 1998 when I first moved out West. It is even worse since my brother is a Yankee fan and I have to hear it from him. I am gearing up for the NFL right now. This season is done and so am I! |
