Joel Sherman of the NY Posts reports that Mets mgmt may not tender Maine a contract this off season due to his injuries and that would make him a free agent. While the move is understandable it put a big hole in the rotation next year. That means we would be looking at a rotation of Santana, Pelfrey, Perez, Neise (if he shows this season he belongs) and the probable return of Livan. I don't think this rotation scares anyone. Omar or his sucessor, if he gets the boot, sure has his work cut out for him this off-season.

It's probably too early to know.  If the injury requires surgury he's probably right.  Doubt they would let him go for nothing if he will be ready for next year.  I like the guy.  Hope his career is not in jeopardy.  If sound he can be a dominant pitcher.  The Yankees have a similar situation with Chien Min Wang.
