I am happy they brought up Niese to triple A but we all know that there is no young guys on this team. They are just the old timers waiting to be called up if one of our guys get hurt. I am just a bit concerned with Maine right now and we need him to be healthy when it comes down to getting into the playoffs if we reach it.

I agree but the promotion is a positive sign. Watch for a September callup, though. Hope a couple of others are promoted t Triple A. That would signal that the farm is ready to contribute next year.

The Daily News website reports that Niese has been promoted to AAA New Orleans. They speculate that it is to prepare him if needed down the stretch. I however, believe this is to prepare him for spring training to challenge for the 5th spot in the rotation for 2009.
