He claimed Alex was a "one & 24" guy, who wanted his own exhibition tent, etc. Remember fans howling that Phillips was making a big mistake and holding his feet to the fire over it? So how wrong is he now? Between the steroids, Madonna, prostitutes, a broken marriage, and those narcissistic photos, Alex has definitely separated himself from the rest of the Yankees and made an exhibition of himself far beyond anybody's imagination. If I owned the team and didn't have to deal with the player's union, I'd invoke the morals clause in his contract and fire him. Derek Jeter may have the patience of a saint, but when the next A-Rod scandal arises, even he will have had enough. And if Cynthia has any brains, she'll keep Alex away from their daughters; he's a poor example of a father figure. Certain people owe Steve Phillips an apology. |
