However, no pitcher is worth Hughes, Cano, Cabrera etc. plus 20+ million per year for 6 years or more. As far as I am concerned, Hughes, Chamberlain and Cano are untouchable. 2.

| NascarPitStopPosts: 41Location: Join Date: November 29, 2007 7:19 PMSend Message | Hank Steinbrenner’s Yankees know by now what they will do regarding Santana and I’m beginning to think they have studied a few probable scenarios.Due to the enviable position the Yanks are in i.e. a group of talented young pitchers, enough cash and the will to go after the right players makes it less risky to go after Santana whether for a year or multiple years and still be able to remain very competitive for the next few years. The sux had a great team this season but nobody has repeated since the year 2000 for a reason.Let’s trust Hank & Co knows what they are doing. Or let’s look at it this way: If there is a Santana on our future by design there will be a Rowland in CF as well. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Your boys never make the deal for 1 year, only if he signs long term. To compete with the champs,Sox,(possible new dynasty), Santana is a must for the Bombers. We'll see what the price tag is. | ||

| I'm_just_sayingPosts: 13Location: Join Date: November 30, 2007 2:18 AMSend Message | Where will it all end? There is no doubt the sucs and their partners in crime are out to squeeze the Yanks as always. They knew they couldn’t compete with them so they decided to put in their 2 cents to hike up the Yankees final price for Santana. Wanting to win now and all that sounds good unless the price becomes 2 steep and stupid. Should the twins now ask for Hughes and Kennedy in the same package tell them to sit on it and rotate and wish Santana good luck with the freaking sucs. So much for binging up Hughes nice and easy to be the Yankees ACE for years to come. TALK IS CHEAP. Right Hanky Panky? | ||

Wouldn’t it be funny if Santana comes to St pulling a fast one a la Pavano: “Gee I donno what’s wrong with my arm” “I must have pulled something” Hank goes: "Let me get my hands on that freaking Brian"

What I do care about, is that whichever team gets him they will not have to give up as much as what the Twins are asking from the Yankees.

| YankeeFan4EverPosts: 91Location: Join Date: November 29, 2007 7:25 PMSend Message | I agree 100% Bruce, the Twins are acting like they have Superman himself. If you ask me Santana is on the decline. Now they want Kennedy with Hughes, Milky and another stud in AAA. They really have a lot of nerve, thinking we will give up Hughes and Kennedy. I would like to see the Yanks play the Twins next year, if Santana is still with them, and have either Hughes or Kennedy, or even Joba pitch for the yanks, against Santana. Can you imagine Hughes and Kennedy's attitude in knowing that Minn feels Santana is better then both of them combined, and Milky. A good incentive for either one of them to prove themselves. Boston, knows they need Santana, because they are tired of playing Bridesmaid to the Yankees. If they felt they could beat us in the seasonal games, they would not have to acquire Santana. But, the fact is they are, and always will be in the Yankees shadow, and having Santana might make them a favorite, by the sports writers. But! i like our chances with Wang, Pettitte, Joba, Hughes, and Kennedy..in fact it's scary how good our rotation can be. If we just give the 'three young studs' a chance. And Milky in center is only getting better each year. Keep Damon in left, and Matsui and Giambi dh. And give Duncan a chance at 1st base. The kid with the few times he got up, proved he can hit the long ball and is so excited, as is Hughes, Joba, Kennedy, and especially Milky to play for the Yankees.

. When the Yankees were playing serious baseball in the second half we dissed the sux big time.
This Yankee site is like any Yankee site. Yankee fans feel because they won the season series against Boston that they had a good year. Go back to Oct. 28th. The Red Sox won the World Series. The Yanks were playing patty-cake with A-Rod.

Bruce, Mussina hasn't been a star pitcher for at least 3 years now!! By the way how many championships have the yankees won with him on the staff? It’s amazing how some experts dismiss Wang as a not so hot pitcher. Quietly Wang has given us two back to back 19 win seasons. Could you imagine what could have been if he was better or if he would have gotten better support from his team for a couple of more games each season? If we could get Wang to consistently keep his pitches low he’ll be the unhittable sinker ball pitcher he’s supposed to be. Let’s shower the guy with tons of attention and support instead of dreaming about owning someone else’s stars. We have our own stars. Let’s show we really care about them. Wang, Pettitte, Joba, Hughes, Kennedy, Mussina. Wake me up when the twins make their greedy decision I already forgot about them.

"Could you imagine what could have been if he would have gotten better support from his team for a couple more games each season"? Earth to Bruce, Wang has played on the team with the best offense in baseball the last two years and gets better run support than all those other pitchers you listed who had no chance to win 19 games each season. Then again you are right to say he probably would have won 25 games if the Bombers scored 10 or more runs in each of his starts. I guess this guy is just unlucky.

Joba has said: “you think I’m good? Wait until you see Kennedy whom I’ve grown to love and admire”. We know about Joba and all those publications dedicated to rate the best prospects with great major league potential have rated Ad-Nauseating Hughes as one of the young pitchers with the potential to be a true Ace and superstar for many years to come. Hughes was supposed to be our secret weapon the one who’d instill fear in Boston. Where was Hank when this happened? Horse trading? Someone needs to re-educate him about baseball players that is, not horses. BTW has he won any tiny leg of the Triple Crown so far? Anybody out there knows?

So what gives? Why are we again being brainwashed by the media into giving away our future to have the honor of paying Santana a slew of money with no guarantees whatsoever that he’ll continue to shine or even improve? All Boston has to do is counter with Sabathia who has Santana’s number. Sabathia won’t work for us because he’s afraid of Ortiz and Manny, his daddies. Playing Damon in CF won’t do; and he can’t handle the booing, what are we going to do then? This would be trade has disaster written all over it.
