Mussina who’s never been a true Ace for the Yankees other than at the time of cashing his paycheck had another pedestrian outing and he said about his control: “I missed so badly a couple of times, I wasn’t really sure what I was trying to do,” this is always evident with him as well as with most Major League Pitchers; you see the catcher putting up his glove out there and the ball arrives at least a foot away from where it is expected.
That applies to every pitcher including Farnsworth who has a great and powerful arsenal but who’s always wrestling with his control so much that he’s been the target of most (if not all) tabloid writers who simply say he’s unreliable.

I have always felt that Kyle is just afraid of ending someone’s career with the powerful stuff he generates and I firmly believe that’s what happened last night with Manny who happens to be a true thug when it comes to someone pitching too close to him for comfort, so either Manny was so startled that he didn’t know how to react or he was simple afraid of messing with Kyle I thought it was a combination of both but mostly he felt sort of grateful he wasn’t really hit and so was Kyle and myself.
But that backstabbing Mussina had other ideas; one minute he’s talking about his lack of control (he of the finesse pedigree) next he’s trying to direct the focus of the fans and media towards Farnsworth by implying that he went after Manny saying: “You have to pitch inside, you have to keep people honest,” Mussina said. “But I guess that was a different way of keeping someone honest.”

Moose you’re a coward of the worst kind a true representative of your native state. I guess your services are no longer needed by the tabloids whom you used to shower with quotes against your teammates provided they were off record and they always were but now it’s time to cut you loose you’re no longer effective even if you borrow ANY pitch from Farnsworth, another one from Joba and a couple from the young studs or Mariano. You’re shut, no longer a Major League hurler.

I thought that Manny didn’t deserve to be hit and I don’t think he was despite smacking Mussina all over the zip code.
Give Manny some credit for showing a lot of class in this case. Manny could hit Mussina with his eyes shut yet he chose to bat with his eyes open (the results would have been the same though) he showed Mussina a ton of kindness something Mussina doesn’t deserve, he’s garbage.

Bruce....good post. Its nice to see that there are a few Yankee fans that didn't think Farns should have hit Manny in the head. Very classy. Bravo.

But you’re in luck because this year behind door number one we have: you’ve guessed it, we have patience . . . . So P-A-T-I-E-N-C-E it is.
There still are 144 more games to go. And as an added bonus behind door number two it says: “the Tigers and Cleveland could suc/k even more than the Yankees” so the parade preparations need not be cancelled we’re right on track.

You just rendered a MLB piece of news useless . . . yeah the one that says: “probable starters” . . . . . . does that matter at this time?
If it makes you feel better some of us don’t think Santana would have made any difference . . . . . . Team wise and mettle we might still suc/k.
And the worse you can do is call up Scott Patterson now. Wait until you’re a normal major team again and then call him up.
But this current situation still begs the question: where are the leaders on this team? And no Mussina . . . . . I never meant you.

Foston pitchers drill our players all the time that we already lost count yet when some of our pitchers buzz them they get suspended . . . . that . . . suc/ks big time. So my advice to whoever wants to hear is to drill these guys first; shoulder blades, the butts, the legs, I don’t care just sent the message EVERY TIME WE PLAY THEM but always drill them first juts like they have been doing since Torre started managing the team and that albatross Mussina joined the team. This pedestrian dog never cared about his teammates being hurt time and time again because . . . . . . well . . . . we were civilized. And that includes the whistling Angels of Anaheim (Madden’s alma mater) of course.
And in this action you see the hand of the NY tabloids who go out of their way to call the attention of MLB every time this involves Yankee hurlers so maybe our players with the exception of this traitor Mussina may take notice and treat the frigging NY tabloids as Varitek treats them which usually consist of just being abrupt with them with “no comment” comments, or “I wouldn’t even tell our guys that”,“ or “Don’t know Don’t care” instead of opening up and pouring their hearts out like Posada, Giambi, Damon, Abreu and Mussina do.

Where is MLB when our guys get hurt all the time? They should allow that idiot Selig to try coaching first or third base for a couple of games without the helmet that would serve him well.
Collecting 14 Million plus for being a puppet; that’s outrageous. Just check that video of Tavares graphically explaining to Matsuzaka how he was supposed to drill our players (and FOX people just laughed). I don’t think Jeter, Giambi, Matsui, Rodriguez or any of our players that routinely gets drilled were laughing. If this doesn’t show how biased MLB is against the Yankees nothing ever will.

Joba is back and that’s very good news and I say that because it means his father Harlan is doing better. We wish Joba’s father a complete recovery.
Welcome back Joba. This is a team don’t take more pressure that needed and try to overdo your share; this team needs to wake up and perform as simple as that and we’re patiently waiting. Welcome back and enjoy the game; that may take your mind away from your worries somewhat we hope so anyway. As you’ve said it before you’ll be a better person for it.

Andy doing what a stopper should. Great job.
The dormant bats coming alive always a good sign. Let’s hope Alex 14 mil. Quad is not so bad.
Let’s hope those bats inadvertently left in the clubhouse were actually blessed by Pope Benedict (a Yankee fan let’s hope).
Let’s get back on tract. Did I say this guy Moeller is a great find? Perfect, now Posada and his would be super lethal bat can find a home at first base.
What a rocket! I mean the one that went from first to center field WOW!! Jason owes Andy big time maybe a well hit HR or two will be a nice payback next time Andy is on the mound.
Just in case you guys haven’t noticed the sux are all warmed up and I get the feeling they are not going to wait that long. And by the way Ian start throwing strikes you’re not a power pitcher and if you think the Yankees will wait forever you’re mistaken. They owe you nothing yet. You’re a nice guy but right now that’s all you are.

We better forget about C.C. Sabathia the sux messed him up last year and he’s not going to recover any time soon, so much for another shot at another ACE.
Just think about it: next year there won’t be any Pavano, Mussina or Giambi. The Yanks are going to hit the Mega or the Powerball. Despite the platinum catcher and third baseman we might still have some room to maneuver and trade for or sign some able bodies.

When it comes to the two current fugazies and the jewel I trust Andy’s opinion more than Hank or Cashman and if Andy says these kids have what it takes so be it although I would love Ian to take his job a bit more seriously because currently it seems like if he thinks all he has to do is show up every game and continue to throw the way he has to keep everybody happy . . . . That’s not the case. He needs to start throwing strikes and getting guys out in different situations to reaffirm the support he has from certain sectors of the fandom and/or ownership. He hasn’t won anything yet; granted he’s in the developing stage . . . . . so . . . . Improve upon previous performances and make it sooner please.
Either we compete this year (and burn all our prospects in the process as the media would love us to do) or we mean business and see where this team takes us while we get ready for the next decade (which would look rosier to a certain extent) but it would mean risking losing against the sux this year (they had a better plan with Ortiz slump notwithstanding) and that would also mean the tabloids will revolt around August or September but when was the last time the tabloids were happy (really) when the Yankees were doing great?

I still think that Hand needs to get over Santana once and for all . . . . He wouldn’t have made a difference to a team with a few albatrosses around its neck, you know who they are, hopefully they won’t be here next year (by attrition) but we need to mature and stomach the fact that the sux might win it again this year . . . . . . . . OR NOT. I know one thing for sure, whatever we had tried, including the messianic comeback of Clemens, hasn’t worked but we keep hearing from the media about the new stadium and the old one and those games in between. It sells papers or readership but does it make us better? No.
Besides, Gerardi’s guile is not working and that needs to be part of the equation for the plan to work and he still is going through this former teammate/manager transition period and he needs as much time as the crown jewels to come around. A rush job won’t do.

From the co-chairpersons viewpoint selling the Yankees and buying the Tampa Rays would make more sense . . . . but is that what they really want? |
