What about that Times writer who picked on Jeter recently.  Tell us smart guy: Does Melky get paid to Hit, Bunt or hot dog? How about benching the jerk because he feels he owns the CF   while being ZERO FOR  (fill in the blanks). . . . .  little does he know he’s more interim than Manuel.
Bruce4Real

Joba was shaky    . . . . .  so what? He kept the team (is this a team? The offense I mean) in the game same as the previous pitchers before him and he’s not going to be neither perfect nor overpowering every game (not while he learns his trade) Beckett or Santana were not overnight wonders Joba almost is and he’ll surely get better and steady. You had a good game Joba.

You’ll steadily make us better.  We know that.

And Mariano what are you going to do? That’s baseball  too bad you can’t hit for those incapus.
Bruce4Real

Of the offense this is the only part that I liked: Robinson Cano slapped a single to right in the fourth to score Jason Giambi, who had walked. In the sixth, consecutive two-out singles by Posada, Cano and Betemit tied the score at 2. Let me repeat that consecutive two-out singles by Posada, Cano and Betemit tied the score at 2.

Good teams win all the close games they must      . . . . . .     that should answer the implied question.
Bruce4Real

Which brings us to Jeter. How about three stinky loses? Does that qualify as a slump? Or it’s just lack of focus, hunger and guts?

You go from one extreme to the other  . . . . .    it used to be “if we don’t win the WS it’s a failure” they must have changed the menu in the clubhouse.

Bruce4Real

Melky is no Cano he might not find his way back to decent Avg or the key stat: OBP.   Fan consensus SAYS: Trade bait (across town maybe?).
Bruce4Real

Is the hitting coach still around?  WHYYY?  You can’t fire the prima-donnas, too early to fire Girardi.  Something has to give despite us being lucky to have him among us.

How else in the world the prima-donnas will know we mean business they have guaranteed contracts.  Unless we ultra-seriously are willing to show tons of patience this year which is a lot more than just plain patience. If that’s the case have it your way but lets’ not start sacrificing prospects just for the sheer panic of it all.
Bruce4Real

Cashman:  Aren’t you glad Moeller is still around?  It’s evident that prima-catcher still looks brittle. Just like it’s evident that M. Kay doesn’t know crap about the game (the entire stadium goes: I could have told you that; we know and feel your pain).  Mike Kay has more shows on YES than Don Francisco does in his own Spanish channel and he has a ton of shows and does his own commercials as well.  Is that next?
Bruce4Real

I must confess I did enjoy the “c’mon Mike give me the PIN”  “the PIN” commercial.
Bruce4Real

When you think you had enough let me know guys by start being disciplined at the plate AGAIN  and putting the ball in play ‘till then I’ll be happy to oblige.
Bruce4Real

We’re happy to have   . . . . .   WHO?
Bruce4Real

What about this for thought-food? The schedule is going to get really rough. Is this $209 Mil. plus offense going to handle rough?

Does anybody even remember    . . . . .    ROUGH?

I’ve just read that there were some inconsistencies with the news regarding Alex, Madonna and Cynthia.

If that’s the case (and it seems it is) I stand corrected and I apologize to Alex for taking some cheap shots at him. My bad.

As far as not hitting when you should  . . . . . . . .   Just keep getting better man and your teammates better start hitting consistently. You are not the problem I’ve just went on a tangent without knowing the facts. I hope you’re Ok overall and your little ones too. I honestly hope you had a prenup.

Baseball will take your mind off these situations hitting for average and power specially (sorry just pushing the envelope to our advantage).

We got your back (after initially sticking a foot in my mouth) you know that.

Bruce4Real

After all those terrible losses it feels good to see the team finding a way to start righting their ship.

Bruce4Real

It was clearly a Giambi’s night and as impressive as the grand slam was I was more impressed with the double to the opposite field that’s the Giambi I like to continue seeing hitting the ball  . . .  a very nice swing and the timing was even better, let’s keep it up.

Every player had a hit and Garner got his first ML hit, welcome to the Majors Gardner the beginning of a long and successful career We hope.

Ponson gave us a decent effort but he was almost dead at the end but the offense picked him up and that’s how the game was won. It was a team win and a nice one at that.

Bruce4Real

It was also encouraging to see Alex trying the right porch for size and it would help the team very much if he adopted that spot as the gateway to future linedrives turned jacks.  Use the stadium to your advantage whenever possible.  Just like you stealthy get to second after a long single to allow the next batter to pick you up, those are different ways to help the team and to beat any opponent with minimum effort (with your talent that is).
Bruce4Real

Was that a light weight version of Mickey running around the bases? Was that a bird? A plane?  No it was Gardner the accidental base stealer who’s adding a new dimension to the teams winning ways (he makes it look so easy BTW).

Now you can start manufacturing runs when needed.  Right Girardi? Or break the opposing pitchers’ concentration. Just one bit of advice Gardner: stay healthy and don’t get picked off  . . . .   It doesn’t sit well with the finicky local tabloids.

That latest W should help us stay focused against the sux who are sheepishly sliding into town after being humbled by the mighty former doormats. Unnoticed in the wee hours of the morning no less. Tampa Bay proved that the sux are ordinary humans after all.

Let’s give them a run for their money as we start the next series at the Cathedral of baseball. Stay focused one to nine (one inning at a time). Score early and often   . . . . .  .   Any count any inning is a good one to start up a rally.  By staying disciplined at the plate you’ll get to their relievers early.  Break their pitchers concentration (ask for timeouts every so often) keep them off balance (that is something you can control).
