Just like it was sad to see Cat Osterman cry after the loss to Japan and the great performance by their pitching star Ueno it was also great to see Hope Solo the beautiful and capable US Goalkeeper save the gold for the USA in Soccer against those magicians from Brazil.

Kudos to the Soccer Team in general and Solo in particular and life won’t end there for the wonderful softball superstars. Hold your head up.  The sun will shine again tomorrow.

True to form the Yankees followed their manager’s not so silent mantra “Halladay is the best pitcher in all of baseball” (that’s English for: “You can’t beat this guy, no way no how” ) and the result was predictable although they really went out of their way to prove Girardi right. I never knew a pitcher could score 14 runs.

A clown has suggested that the Yankees are having some serious problems at the plate because they miss “Posada’s bat and leadership”. Hello stupid! The team was missing Posada’s bat and leadership even with Posada on the active roster.

Bruce4Real

The team was in perfect position to strike at the Rays and Sux or at least to give it a try (and there wasn’t a tabloid sportswriter as I recall who was disputing that fact at the time, when Girardi and Cashman thought they couldn’t pass up Pudge for Farnsworth and they did the fatidic trade (with 99 percent of the tabloids calling it a Win-Win deal) in record time. At that time I’ve said you’ve just lost the chance to reach the post season I actually added: “Mark my words” “Guaranteed.”

Check the Yankees’ path right after the trade and you’ll see that’s when the Yankees pulled up lame. The season was gone.

Bruce4Real

So don’t go blaming Ponson or even Pudge (he wanted to come to a team with a chance to make it to the World Series) because prior to that trade the tabloids weren’t comfortable with Molina’s stats like if we got Molina for his bat.

It’s not surprising that Pettitte and Mussina chose to go with Molina (not Girardi’s idea just like it wasn’t Torre’s idea to let Moose throw to someone else other than “honest” man Posada) even after Pudge arrived.

The Yankees didn’t stop the opponents running game and Pudge didn’t provide the numbers his bat was supposed to pull from thin air after he arrived, that took care of the “whole package” superlative that Girardi attached to the trade.

We got a hall of fame individual with stats that were no longer hall of fame worthy and the pen imploded although again that was not their fault (I hereby exonerate every single member of the valiant bullpen) no sir that honor goes to those two little shiits Girardi and Cashman.
Bruce4Real

The sux did their best to help but ungrateful that we are we didn’t even say thank you sux.  Why should we even acknowledge their indirect help when we got Pudge the “Whole Package” when we could blow the chances on our own accord and time.

How many times do you recall watching a Yankees game when the scoreboard was already flashing the fact that the sux lost another game? Only to see the Yankees come up short” The answer: More than the current number of games deficit  . . . . . .     Easily   . . . . .  Only to hear the person responsible for the awful team performance respond with a tepid: “I hate to lose what can I tell you? I really hate to lose.”  Yeah right.
Bruce4Real

It is a shame Girardi was never a great catcher otherwise he wouldn’t have instantly salivated like a camel when Leyland called. The deed had to be done. Thank you Cashman. Now go on and spend another ton of more easy come easy go money to buy us a playoff spot next year. Oh you still will be here alright.
Bruce4Real

I say let’s watch these guys play and expect an honest effort from them the rest of the way (without hurting themselves) to decide who makes next year’s roster with the exception of Giambi (he should be gone) and don’t give me this BS about “who’s going to replace those homers"?

We are still smarting from “Who’s going to replace those 156 RBI’s at third base” that we so often heard after the opt-out. Yeah you know your stuff that’s why you’re still writing for a tabloid instead of SI.

Bruce4Real

As “honest man” Posada would say: It is what it is.

The best thing the team can do is continue to give a sustained and honest effort without playing with panic or a sense of urgency or despair.

Just take a page from the NYFD. Every time they are called to a fire they arrive and act like if it’s business as usual regardless of the magnitude of the fire but you know they will give you their utmost effort and their lives in the process if that’s what it takes to save you and yours. Granted they don’t make $28 million a year or 23 or 19 but they never had Boras representing them either. But that’s what you get every time  . . . .  Their absolute best and you feel like if harm will never come to you NOT on their watch.

Bruce4Real

SAY IT AIN’T SO!

"We have seen the heart and determination," Hal said of his players.

I guess that doesn’t include batting with men in scoring position.

Bruce4Real

SOUNDS FAMILIAR?

Rays’ manager Maddon about their approach to every game:

"Everybody keeps talking about big series and big games -- they're all the same," he said. "And if you treat them with the same respect, you have the best chance of winning the most games."

As opposed to: OH no we’re facing Halladay tonight! I hope he goes easy on us.

Bruce4Real

It’s a nice win but as it has often been the case the runs came in bunches too late to help Mussina this time   . . . .  Again. He’ll be the first one to tell you that what matters is the win but I’m not so sure.  When the team doesn’t try hard enough SOON enough to back his starters where in the world are they going to get the support they need?

This is not like the NL where pitchers like Sabathia and Santana can help their cause with their bats.
Bruce4Real

Moose deserves better. Plenty of games left Moose   . . . .   Hang in there this is just a glitch, the wins will come.
Bruce4Real

I’m waiting for Jeets to surpass the 3,000 hit mark to congratulating him just like I’m waiting for A-rod to overtake Mike Schmidt in the HR category to do the same, we haven’t forgotten and we have been paying attention.
Bruce4Real

Cashman today is your lucky day, you get a break for getting us Nady but that is as far as I will go. You’re still not out of the doghouse yet.
Bruce4Real

Pavano goes for the Yankees and as every Yankee player seems to welcome him let’s just say have a good game and just like every Yankee starter concentrate on every pitch and throw first pitches for strikes without being predictable in the order or pattern. Trust your stuff and go after those batters.
Bruce4Real

The way things are going it seems that Hughes will be the next pitcher to be traded; this guy has lost his bearings, screw the poise we want an effective starter to go with what we have.

I’m still curious as to how Hughes got that broken rib?  Could it be he got it horsing around with his teammate Duncan or got hurt while celebrating a win or a HR with some of the rambunctious players on the team? I’d like to know. Wouldn't you?

Bruce4Real

LA Confidential!

Things have gotten nicer for Torre since Manny joined his team. More power to you. You’re closer to the post season than the Yankees are and that has nothing to do with managing effectively and you shouldn’t care    . . . .    Just take the wins and the chances to make it to the post season. It is what it is.

I wish your team may go as far as they can   . . . . .   why not.

It’s the Olympic spirit let’s show some showmanship. If the Yankee Brass don’t like it   . . . .  Tough.  It’s not the first time they get it wrong.

At least Manny made that NL West more exciting which is more than I can say for some of our guys. You beat Philadelphia a few more times and the mutts will have you in their daily prayers.

Bruce4Real

I want to congratulate Bobby Abreu not only on such a hitting seminar going 5 for 5 at the plate (five by five as they say on the pilots’ waves) but also on doing something sort of wonderful for those Little leaguers from Venezuela. As they grow older those kids will appreciate the gesture even more and that might even influence any  of these kid developing into great players like the current crop of Venezuelan players in MLB to come to play one day for the Yankees (but that’s just wishful and cynical thinking not intended to take away from the nobility of the gesture. Well done Bobby you turned into the Prince of the City for one night (at least in my books anyway)  . . . . If only Santana or Maglio or K-Rod could make those kids experience even more interesting but THAT probably is just wishful thinking.

Take a look at yourself Bobby   . . .  THAT   . . . . . .   Is a fine person whose proud smile is worth a million bucks or words for that matter.

Bruce4Real

Let’s hope we’ll hear one day A-rod doing something similar for his Miami HS which it opened the doors for him to a great (well beyond his wildest dreams) professional future. We know about the Canes but he never actually attended the U of Miami.
Bruce4Real

How about the Yankees inviting the USA softball team so the Yankee fans can show their appreciation for these wonderful athletes and the Yankee players can get to see in the flesh some of the best pitchers, infielders, outfielders and true clutch hitters in the game?

The Boss once headed the US Olympic committee and he claimed he really enjoyed the experience.
