Pavano took the mound which I’m sure looked to him like a spot on Mars or the Moon and it took him a couple of innings to get familiar with the place: the crowd, his teammates and the hitters and after looking a bit tentative he got on a groove (sort of) and pitched well which was the general idea.

In the beginning he was trying to avoid getting hit whereas in the next few innings he went after the hitters with good results. So he did well and the team score enough runs for him to get the win. Lucky him.

So does that mean going forward we’ll have Mussina, Pettitte, Ponson, Joba and Pavano? If we can close the gap with the Wild Card leader in time who cares? We’ll do with what we have and let the “We’re better than that” mantra take over.

Could you imagine beating Foston to the post season with those starting five?  Beckett must know something that we don’t   . . . .   He wants no part of these Yankees now or in the near future.  To me that’s like throwing in the towel and as such it should be interpreted and the time is right to get into high gear.

We still need to rearrange the batting order a bit those 2-3-4-5-6 holes won’t do. I don’t care how much A-rod is making (Hank said something similar when he was feeling like a Macho mini-boss some time ago) he should bat second     . . . .  I  . . .F . . . .    he cares about this team  . . . . .   Damon, A-rod (he gets on base, he often steals second), Jeter, Abreu, Nady, Matsui, etc . . .   that’s our ticket, let the hot bats of Jeter, Abreu and Nady (specially with RISP) carry the day until he gets hot or unless he can guarantee 74 rbi’s in the remaining 33 games which is highly improbable for the $28 Mil man.
Bruce4Real

Is there anything wrong with Damon, his throwing arm I mean? When he throws it looks like if his left arm is about one fifth smaller than his right arm.
Bruce4Real

Pudge should be making better contact at the plate if he finishes his follow through that is    . . . . . .   It's evident he's not doing that.

Check your videos versus A-rod, Abreu and Nady and you’ll know what I mean.

“I feel horrible with how I threw today,” Rasner said. “There’s no excuse for it. The guys put up that kind of run support for me, and I wasn’t able to do my job. I take stuff like that personally.”

Who trains these guys? The same BS day in and day out and it doesn’t matter if they are journeymen or starters or recent callups or last minute replacements. The politically correct answer for someone who’s not doing his job is the same company line: They are not playing good enough to win.  Very much in the same breath with “I hate to lose Oh God how I hate to lose”   . . . . .   the jury is still out on that one too.

Bruce4Real

They are so stuck in their own BS that they don’t realize that Foston has serious problems of their own and they are becoming the PANICKY NATION all you need to do is check the Foston tabloids. The opportunity is there serious enough for Cashman to consider a new arm for the rotation instead of continue to rely on “help from within the organization.”

If you’re so clearly interested in reaching the post season even if only for cosmetic purposes (this team is not ready to go all the way, too many issues my boy) now is the time to make your strategic move and I don’t mean go blow Joba’s arm . . . .  that  . . . . .  should get you a ticket out of town. I don’t even think Hal the cheapo will be safe if that happens.

“They’re all big, man,” Derek Jeter said. “I’d tell you the exact same thing if we were going to Kansas City to play the Royals. We need to win games. That’s the position that we’re in.”

Jeter didn’t get the memo from Maddon: There are no games more important than others they are all the same. You just treat them with the same respect and you’ll win those games more often than not.

It makes sense: instead of adding undue pressure you just have to play every game with the same intense focus and dedication and then let the chips fall where they may (if you know you’re giving a good enough effort).

Bruce4Real

Pudge is guessing wrong at the plate and his motion is still lacking a complete follow through.
Bruce4Real

The sux are coming to town let’s give them a run for their money; we can handle these pitchers if we try.

Let’s go after them with discipline and intensity they are vulnerable and their pen is in disarray. The time to make a dent is now, score early score often, show your mettle, one inning, one game at a time.

Bruce4Real

"We have a veteran team and we've been counted out so many times this year," Damon said. "We've got nothing to lose. We just have to go out there and play the game. A lot of people aren't expecting us to do anything except for the guys in this clubhouse."

Yes and no. We were pulling for you guys all year until the offense including Damon stunk so much and the gap grew to almost an impossible task that we said (knowing how some veterans who are almost done with the Yankees but would like to come back wanted the Yankees to blow a few young arms or to give all the prospects away so they can have a good year all for selfish reasons and none for the team) don’t panic or hurt yourselves just give us an honest effort and let’s get set for the next season.

Bruce4Real

So despite the odds you have insisted it could be done when you still don’t reward your pitchers monumental efforts (at times) or you seem not to care at the plate or during a slump.  But you also sound like if you don’t know the Sux are having problems of their own and it will be all heart from now on until the last game of the season.

That’s not the case, now there is a window that the Sux have opened and we should take advantage of.
Bruce4Real

It will take A-rod to stop messing at the plate (we know the regular stats are there but more of him is needed like hitting the ball most of the time and stop thinking too much at the plate and behave like other well paid players in the game who are clutch (batting with men in scoring position that is; he has more respect for every pitcher he faces than the pitchers have for him and he’s the highest paid player in the sport, is downright ridiculous)) and step up and fight during those at bats, the ability is there it’s the mind that keeps getting lost in the struggle for no apparent reason.

You wanted the money and made many promises. Now pay the piper. He’s strong, he’s lethal (when he puts the ball in play) and he keeps talking the talk (just like Damon between giving games away via fielding errors) but where is the walk?
Bruce4Real

It’s is a fact that for the team to win games A-rod needs not necessarily be in the mist of things as some tabloids keep suggesting but a good enough effort by HIM AND HIS FRIGGING COACH goes a long way towards winning those games that need to be won which in essence means almost every future game.

We have lost so many games due to this little thing   . . . .  Or that one that a correction in our favor is not out of the question   . . . . . . .    especially when the sux have some serious problems.

I seldom talk like this but a sweep is not farfetched because we sweep this series and we won’t have to worry about the Sux anymore with Manny gone they are not the same team and they won’t be the same team after losing the series, the Foston tabloids will take care of that  . . . .   I don’t care how good Bay is he’s not Manny and that is good news for us.  On the other hand Francona is going to try to manipulate the events by using the same reasoning with his team but it’s going to boil down to who wants it more. Do we?
Bruce4Real

Sean Casey, Drew, Lowell they all have problems, Buchholz is gone, Lester currently is not the same pitcher he’s been, Beckett lost it for the most crucial games of the season and the problem is mental as well so he’s out; Matzusaka and Wakefield we can handle. So if you think about it getting to the postseason suddenly is not that all impossible  . . . .    I don’t care how Damon is trying to spin this fact to his advantage (again).
Bruce4Real

The Sux are always trying for ways to improve their team WHILE CASHMAN TAKES A NAP even as we speak. So it has to be a concerted effort (now that making the post season has become a top priority after playing like zombies for months on end) if we truly want to get there.
Bruce4Real

So Damon and Co. just do what needs to be done and stop acting like if you had played brilliantly throughout the whole season and we haven’t given you enough credit when the truth of  the matter is our starters have been cheated by the offense so often that they should have at least 2 or 3 more wins to their credit (at the very least) by now and we know how worried Giambi and Damon are about looking good this year. We fans can wait until next season THEY CAN’T.  So they are taking the Yankee flag and trying to cover themselves with it like if they have fought 24/7 all season long but that’s not the case.

Just the same; you said you have it in you (now that the sux are stumbling) fine, make a GOOD ENOUGH effort and we’ll back you we are all for it but Girardi needs to be a pragmatist and put a hot bat in the cleanup spot otherwise is not going to work because the Sux might be in trouble but those guys fight to very end. They seem to love their colors more than our guys (with few exceptions) do.
Bruce4Real

It’s been said that this series with Foston is just the beginning of a tough, season-ending 32-game stretch that includes six games against the Red Sox, Rays and Blue Jays, as well as four against the White Sox and three against the Angels.  SO WHAT?
Bruce4Real

Up until now we have been worrying about everything including if more sux t-shirts are buried in the new stadium. Enough.
Bruce4Real

Worrying doesn’t do anything for us. Now comes the time to think about what A-rod says all the time: we should care only about the present, not worry, just focus on the moment while at the plate; let muscle memory, focus and intensity win the game and the day for us. We have a tough schedule so do the twins and we still get to play the CHISOX for a few games.

We can’t beat the Angels? That was Torre’s team this are the Girardi Yankees or so we have been told. Want to reach the post season? Beat the Angels too. Easier said than done but not entirely impossible not with this lineup. Right Damon?
Bruce4Real

But in order to accomplish that you will need to execute and focus on every pitch, every at bat and play errless baseball while keeping your eyes on the ball at all times and that includes every starter, every reliever, every batter from one to nine. All it takes is determination and love for the uniform and love for the fans. They will love you back and that’s a fact.

THE SEASON STARTS TONIGHT.   Is your heart in the right place? Well it needs to be!
