For a moment I expected to watch on the tube Hal and Cash heading for Aspen, Co. on the dog-mobile as in Dumb and Dumber with one exception: they’re nowhere near that funny. “Yeah let’s stick it to Andy. We didn’t make it last year because he was making $16 Mil. And didn’t deliver the goods” Oh and while we’re at it let’s give Sabathia a deadline and make that priority one (the deadline): “Where else can he make that kind of money?” Using your henchmen in the tabloids to remind everyone of the kind of year Andy had (the last month and half anyway) while conveniently forgetting the kind of year he had prior to that chosen date (aided by that dreadful offense fine-tuned by that idiot Long who I’m sure has plenty of pictures of Cashman in compromising positions) is a very cowardly clumsy way of doing business. But hey what do you expect? Let’s get ready for more; that thin skin odd couple is in charge from now on: Dumb and Dumber part II.

I’ll do my part and stop going to the games and watch them on the tube (you get to see more anyway like the captain backstabbing his fellow batters). Maybe when they stop seeing those SRO attendances they will open their eyes (the minds are shut anyway) and realize how stupid they are (as a couple anyway) granted by then it’ll be too late.

You have all money in the world, you take our sweat and blood and do nothing with it other than alienating a pitcher who has always behaved like a true Yankee and a gentleman and stink the whole place. Torre already stole the show last year maybe he’ll give you more of the same next year.

“Sabathia loves the West Coast” . . . . . . . “He’s a family man” . . . . . “he likes to hit”. . . . . . . DUH! Decision time man.

I’ve just learned that Sabathia has agreed to play for the Yankees (according to the Post) so I’m glad that he’s a family man after all and I don’t mind to eat crow at all, actually I’m thrilled to do so. I know Sabathia won’t regret this decision. That makes for a nice present (and future) there is nothing to fear but fear itself. We’ll be okay.
| Bruce4RealPosts: 1681Location: Join Date: November 29, 2007 11:46 PMSend Message | We all know that Pettitte was better than the 14-14 the stats show. We also know he represents a lot of the good the Yankees have to offer and nobody loves the Yankees like he does. So cut that crap about he deserves 8 million and you are paying him 10 just like the other crap you started when you told the baseball world he wanted more than one year contract. The guy has been nothing but a decent human being whereas you? You’re a different story. | |

When you nickel and dime Andy you are actually nickel and diming us as well. Reach a common reasonable ground from Andy’s viewpoint he has been nothing but an honorable man all his life and he truly bleeds Yankees blue. Give the guy the money he deserves (he’s on his last year and we know he’s a money pitcher) stop this charade and go to the next step. You are stealing us blind ticket prices wise and taxes wise. What did you get for frigging Pavano’s $40 Mil.? Exactly.
| Bruce4RealPosts: 1681Location: Join Date: November 29, 2007 11:46 PMSend Message | Reach out to Andy and make a decent offer . . . . . . Forget about the market this is our money and Andy’s our pitcher. As usual screw the tabloids and make a decent offer. The Boss wronged Pettitte once his sons should know a lot better. Get Pettitte on board and we’ll take whatever Andy has to give us. | |

Quid pro Quo. You got to keep that joke of a hitting coach . . . . . . Give us Andy. It seems that we are going to put a good team on the field . . . . . Andy should be part of it. Let’s find that common ground and let’s not forget about that minor item: we know you’re stealing us blind. And you conveniently leave that fact out: Andy is coming back for one year . . . . . No Extended contracts . . . . . . no drafts picks lost . . . . no risks whatsoever for one miserable year (figure speech) he's still a bargain.

Persons familiar with Cash and Andy’s meeting stated it was a good meeting. They're both willing to work on reaching an agreement. That would be welcome news, here is hoping that’s a true fact. That’s all we’re asking: a talk in good faith and the desire to meet sort of down the middle (it’ll make a lot of sense for both parties and both parties represent the Yankees) and we’ll have a solid and a balanced rotation. For the newcomers: A-rod is slated by his predictable history to have a great year this coming season so his bat will be there and his eternal quest for an MVP title on odd years. Girardi has said: “I have confidence in A-rod this coming season”; sorry Joe we hate to burst your bubble but we also know how to read stats.

What are we waiting for? Why hasn’t Andy signed for his last season in pinstripes? Is Cash and Hal still trying to nickel and dime him? Whatever happened to “the Yankees don’t care about money” . . . “they like to outbid themselves” . . . at the tune of a few tens of millions of dollars mind you. We’re even trying to get Sabathia’s buddy on the team (Cameron), another buddy in the rotation (Sheets), the Nanny, his driver, pedicurist (I know Pedro was very meticulous about that while with the Sux), Golf weekly partner, favorite chef, etc, etc. etc. Great acquisition but C.C. hasn’t won anything yet. Got it?

Signing Andy will give our resident yoyos the flexibility to go after other type of players in other fronts that signing Sheets or Lowell would render impossible or next to impossible (it all depends on whom you believe when it comes to “The Yankees don’t care about money” ). I’ll say it again sign Pettitte for the only one year he’s asking. . Not two years, not three . . . one shot deal and you can prorate my butt. Give the guy the money you have plenty so you could be free to go after (I won’t tell Theo although he might have a good idea by now, he usually does) so you’ll have more flexibility and credibility when bidding for those players you’ll bid for WHATEVER purpose (it allows you to play some serious liar’s poker) are you with me so far? I have to ask because after seeing you panic and going nuclear on CC and AJ I wouldn’t be surprised if you don't. It is embarrassing that the two main Yankees negotiators don’t know the basics of negotiating having the guilt doesn’t make you instant successful negotiator . . . hell I could have gotten better deals than you guys did but we have to give you some credit because knowing you two there was ample room to screw even the elementary. Did I mention Andy is a known quantity? You'll get 14 to 17 Wins easily and he'll take the mound on those days he's supposed to even earlier, that much we know.

With the money you showered on CC and AJ . . . . . . I could have probably have annexed at least one Canadian province; or the part of Niagara Falls that generates all that cheap electricity. How difficult could that be? Give Andy his rightful money and then go finalize the other elements that would make our offense believable again. And while you’re at it put Davidoff on a leash or send him to Cesar the dog whisperer. Andy should be signed for a decent salary not those $10 Mil. you’re trying to insult him with. Get real. You’re wasting our time just like you ruined the team chances last year at the very last minute (at the end of July to be precise). You don't want me to start writing about it . . . . Again.

C.C. and A.J. WELCOME TO NEW YORK Just give us your best effort . . . . . . that’s all we fans will ever ask. WELCOME HOME.
| Bruce4RealPosts: 1681Location: Join Date: November 29, 2007 11:46 PMSend Message | Now if we could only go and sign Pettitte and go about the business of getting those big bats we’ll be in business and the baseball world will know we’re back. | |

Henry’s message to the media to practically tell the world what we already knew: “Bora doesn’t play fair.” I guess he wasn’t shocked enough when Boras advised Manny to engineer his own opt-out. The mother of all statements second only to: “thanks for making this necessary.”

Here’s another guy who tells the truth: Henry. The Sox are out of the Teixeira sweepstakes . . . . . . Yeah Right. Just another tantrum from the Fenway gang. Let’s just hope Teixeira gets irked even more with the Sox but it all boils down to money and what else is new?

Talking about money . . . . . . The usual suspects are ripping C.C. for taking all that money from the Yankees. I guess all these solid citizens work for free. C.C. took the money SO WHAT? He created his own market value and the Yankees think they have money to burn . . . . . . All I know is we are not going to read in the media that the Yankees are going into their private series with the Sox again facing their studs: Beckett and Matsuzaka. Boy did they ever abuse that line and that applies to SI writers too. Good God. Over and over and over . . . . that you almost wanted to hate those guys (fine pitchers in their own right) but to hear those words: “the Yankees will be facing Beckett and Matsuzaka . . .” just that makes the acquisition of C.C. and A.J. the more worthwhile. |
