The Yanks have said through the media that they won’t keep that window open for Pettitte much longer. Time to make a decision Andy. If you and your family can take another year playing in the Bronx talk to these guys and sign. If you want to retire or play closer to home we’ll understand (screw the tabloid writers what do they know? ) but it would be nice to be part of this team they might go all the way and with you on board the chances are even better only this time you don’t have to work that hard since there will be other able and effective arms around more so than the last couple of seasons. Go ahead and let them know what your decision will be Andy. This way you can enjoy the rest of the Holiday Season with this piece of business out of the way.

| Bruce4RealPosts: 1681Location: Join Date: November 29, 2007 11:46 PMSend Message | It all started of course a few years ago when the painful decision not to sign beautiful Carlos Beltran was made as painful as it was that move was necessary since Carlos came into the Yankees radar at the most inconvenient time with the team budget completely out of control and tens of millions of dollars tied to terrible deals started by the Boss and Cash (yes the Boss tried to do good but it didn’t work that time although it was maybe the players he acquired that didn’t have HEART, the new buzz word in Yankee fans circles) . . . . . so something needed to be done and Cash did it . . . . . he decided to put those new costly acquisitions on hold because of those onerous luxury taxes hurting the Yankees plans and that was the right thing to do at that time and we fans supported Cash then although that meant that the man who was born to roam the Yankees CF will now play with the Mets who will never fully appreciate what “our” Carlos brings to the game but his family is now financially set and that’s a consolation for us. Carlos is not just the player that got away but the player that had to get away for the Yankees to stop that crazy spending (crazy at that time) that really was getting out of control and the credit again goes to Cashman despite his fingerprints on some of those sad deals. | |

So the story has now come full circle having lost a fine switch hitter who proved to be incredibly clutch in the postseason when playing with Houston now a talented and disciplined power switch hitter who was clutch with the Angels but had no support from his free swinging teammates (although we have said for many year that being clutch is very subjective and more of a chancy circumstance that an exact science or discipline and great clutch players like Sean Casey has agreed with that assessment) has come to enrich our roster, a guy who is a fine athlete and an even finer person. From what we have read Mark is very loyal and dedicated to his friends, family and team and that will help our team tremendously, his credentials are impeccable. We never thought he would be coming to the Yankees for the tons of money already tagged for other players but fate dictated that he joined us and we are tickled to death and still not able to get accustomed to the idea that we’ll have Mark and Alex or Alex and Mark in the middle of our batting order and that can only be great, simply awesome . . . although Alex has gone haywire off the field his on the field dedication still is legendary and all we could ask for (and that will surely be confirmed when he starts this next season) the fact is that odd years sort of make him look even the more awesome.

And so it goes Cash and Hal may or may not be finished dealing this season but we know we don’t need a superstar at every position and with the Starting rotation and the lineup we have we look pretty good and our chances are great for various reasons: Sabathia has shown the last couple of years he likes the ball on crucial games and he knows what to do with it, Burnet has hand-tied the sux and us effectively and that should continue to happen.
| Bruce4RealPosts: 1681Location: Join Date: November 29, 2007 11:46 PMSend Message | Too many close games were lost this past season due to the lack of production by the offense (close to fifty games which for this roster is a mind boggling figure but it did happen) and that’s something it won’t happen again in 2009 due to players like Teixeira, Sabathia or Burnet names the fans should get familiar with soonest (reading a couple of articles in SI might help learning more about Mark Teixeira both as a player and as a person) if we are going to guard their backs which knowing our true fans is a given. | |

So fans and players; owners and coaches and their families have a great rest of the Holiday Season and be ready to have a lot of fun in the 2009 season and for players: be ready to be great . . . . . . . . I know we will.

I’ve been busy enjoying some fine College Football in the last few days namely the amazing show of heart and execution by the Utes against the almighty Alabama team and the systematic destruction by the Gators of the most prolific college offense of the 2008-2009 college season: the Sooners. In both cases it took HEART (sheer guts and execution) to achieve both victories in the case of the U of U (UTAH) it was the defense who never thought small nor wavered, just the opposite, to bring down an opponent that every critic in the nation thought would be too much for the Mountain West Conference Champions Utes to handle, think again.
| Bruce4RealPosts: 1681Location: Join Date: November 29, 2007 11:46 PMSend Message | In the case of the Gators it was Tim Tebow who took the team on his shoulders and almost singlehandedly beat the Oklahoma team with some help from Ahmad Black and David Nelson. | |

Could we import some heart to the new stadium and roster? I wish it would be possible and how about the Steinbrenners helping Utah with a marching Band since it seems the Utes will be making more appearances in future BCS Bowls? And for those still dissing mid-major conferences like the Mountain West Conference; in head to head competition this season the Mountain West Conference practically trashed the elite Pac 10 over and over . . . . . yes Air Force, TCU, BYU, UNLV, New Mexico, Colorado State, Wyoming, San Diego State Aztecs and UTAH they all play in the Mountain West Conference.

So let us worry about far more important things like: should Mark follow Alex in the lineup or should it be the other way around? Or how many more wins will C.C. have over Beckett the sux stud? How about will A.J. own the sux again this season? Now those are things worth losing sleep over. Bruce...I see you're still talking to yourself. So, answer this question: Why after all the signings the Yankmeeoff's signed, do Yankmeeoff fans continue to talk about the Red Sox and the Mets? Wouldn't you think you Yankmeeoff fans would have enough confidence in the team that you wouldn't have to talk about those other teams? What is really goning to be nice is after spending all that money and building a new ballpark, the Yankmeeoff's will still miss the playoffs. Well, I'll let you get back to Yanking yourself. I'll continue to thank God that I'm not a Yankemeeoff fan. Yankmeeoff's su//ck...Yankmeeoff fans swallow!!!!!

I’ve never been a big fan of the King Hot Dog Henderson but I was going to post a comment on how glad I was to see Ricky entering the Hall not just by himself but accompanied by Rice, which I thought was cool after missing the chance for so many years but for some reason I didn’t. Boy am I glad I didn’t . . . . . . it turns out this guy is nothing but another Yankee hater with a ton of chips on his shoulders . . . . . so rice . . . . . you barely made the cut, just be thankful and SHUT the buck up. And Oh yeah . . . . . Congratulations to Ricky Henderson.

The ditching of flight 1549 was a miracle . . . . . . Literally; after seeing the trajectory of this airbus aircraft after taking off from LaGuardia the successful crash landing was a miracle in more ways than one . . . . . . This aircraft could have easily taken (brought death and destruction) a huge chunk of Washington Heights or hit the G.W. Bridge. Let’s be thankful that all the stars were perfectly aligned. I know I am. We could never say enough about those ferries rushing to help those frightened passengers and crew in such frigid weather. A great week to be a New Yorker.

The tabloids seem to be preoccupied with the Yankees having TOO many OF on board and since most of them are Mets fans they keep saying the Mets could use the X-Man. I love Nady but if the Mets want the X-Man badly and we all know they have been beatching about Beltran for a few years now how about giving them Nady and Melky for Beltran? They can’t boo the guy enough because he hasn’t played to expectations and we would make him feel right at home . . . . . this way we both help each other get to the post season with the players we like. Just a thought.
| Bruce4RealPosts: 1681Location: Join Date: November 29, 2007 11:46 PMSend Message | My choice to trade (to any team out there) would be Matsui but the Yankees know a good deal when they have one and Matsui sama puts butts on the stands and in order for the Yankees to get rid of Matsui they have to have another Japanese player on the roster since Japanese fans can afford the new Yankee prices and the Yankees need the exposure that having Japanese players on the roster means. It’s just business. | |

How about working with our pitchers about protecting our batters a problem that is very old and for which the Yankees haven’t found an acceptable solution yet. We know that Joba is not the man for that job, we know he wants to protect his teammates but he seems to be afraid of really hurting someone; ST will be the time to address that since Matsuzaka doesn’t seem to have enough when it comes to hurting our batters. That a$$hole better get the message that you hurt one of our players we’ll drill two of yours. And the message should be loud and clear. Stop messing with our players a$$holes . . . . and one more thing this should be the year the Yankees batters take Matsuzaka either deep or light him up every time he gives us too many walks . . . . . he's got to pay for that. In Foston they think it’s a given that Matsuzaka will give his huge quota of bases on walks the more reason for us to solve this riddle rather quick.

This is a perfect example of even though the YankMEoffs spent almost half-a-billion dollars on 3 players, their fans still FEAR the Red Sox. As for why the YankMEoffs get hit so much...its because they lean over the plate. The best example of this is that "fake dive into the stands" Derek "way overratted" Jeter. Hey, on another subject, I hear the NHL is looking at playing a hockey game at the new stadium next Jan. 1st, 2010. I say "go for it"....there has to be at least "one meaniful" game played at the joint.

Move fast forward to the ALCS and you also have C.C., Burnett and Wang pitching for you with Mo and Co. ready to close the deal. How do you like our chances? |
