The fact that Mitchell’s report only affects those teams and players that happened to fall on his lap it doesn’t diminish the fact that the past use and abuse of steroids and surely the current use of HGH and designer drugs was and must still be rampant in baseball.

Grownups know what they are doing or so it seems and we shouldn’t care about them whether they are Yankee players or not.

But the fact still remains that HS and College Student-athletes surely follow the pros in what they do to be successful. That’s the real tragedy of this and no excuse in the world, in my opinion, would suffice for a professional athlete to continue to do drugs to succeed. Because they are doing drugs no ifs or buts and their providers are surely drug pushers.

It seems only like yesterday that we were all caught up in the spell of the HR race between Sosa and McGwire when these guys were greater than life and every sportswriter in the US wanted to be the first one to report about their progress.

We haven’t forgotten that. So go ahead and act very pious or try to distance yourselves from such a period but just like us you were there and said nothing about it. What happened? You’ve lost your investigative skills? What you’re only Watergate specialists? All of you?

Bruce4Real

All of us were guilty: the players, their union, the fans, the media, the owners and MLB (the shots that saved the sport) we wanted to see these overgrown earthlings look alike destroy all those unmovable records and some kids (male and female) in HS or College will pay for it with their lives, their poor health or the health of their future offspring. That’s a heavy price for a generation to pay and we’re all guilty.

Although the Yankees amended the would be contract of Giambi to delete the clause about his roids use rendering the contract null and void and although Giambi has had his share of problems deriving from his acknowledged use of steroids the fact that his contract was changed to accommodate his agent’s wishes is something that should still trouble us Yankee fans.

That should also serve as reference for future cases and we should support the Yankees organization (that’s the only team we selfishly care about and other teams’ fans may do as they please) when similar future actions have to be taken in that regard to make sure we get the best clean players money can buy.

Memo to WADA: Mind your own GD business.

Here it is WADA doing what they do best: stealing headlines. Trying to act like if THEY are the celebrities instead of the ones they are supposed to police.

As much as I hate to see the players hide behind Fehr’s skirts it has been well documented that WADA has had a passion for antagonizing athletes and national sports associations and organization for the sake of arguing and winning pissing contests for years. That’s not what baseball future anti PED policies should be all about. It shouldn’t be a knee jerk reaction either and it shouldn’t be done in haste. We are one of the most advanced countries on the globe period. Let’s put our best brains and Major Universities’ labs dedicated to Biochemical research to good use.

Bruce4Real

The difference here is that they (the scientists) will be dedicated to help eradicate all those evil ways the athletes have been doping us thanks to jerks like Jose F. Canseco and Conte and they will be doing it for the sake of our national pastime. We’re talking about baseball for GS.

But before Selig start patting himself on the back let’s get real: earmarking meager $3 Million for research is not going to do the job. Not performing random tests of the banned substances 12 months a year is not going to do the job either and this should be an ongoing enterprise not just for HGH but for any future PED’s. Just remember “Cheaters never take a day off” neither should MLB.

And remember it’s not the players and their union against MLB but the cheaters against us and who ultimately pay for those salaries? WE DO. So you’d better believe it should matter what we think.

But politicians will always be politicians.Listen to Hon. George Mitchell: “Mcnamee statements to us were truthful”. How would someone infer that from the interview(s) when it has been widely reported that McNamee merely nodded to every question? At least he didn’t go as far as saying: “he was quite the eloquent.”

who are you talking to Bruce ???

It all starts with Tap !!!

What? McNamee won’t get immunity from the House? What a pity: such a stand out citizen.

According to his lawyer he doesn’t want to be prosecuted in NY or any other state for his role in distributing (talk about euphemisms) PED’s once he testifies before Congress. So that’s what he was doing! And I thought he was just an innocent bystander caught up in the middle of a sinister conspiracy.

I’m sure if this was played out in a court of law he would withstand cross-examination easily.

Bruce....stop being a skyankee whiner.  It wasn't intentional.

I’m beginning to like this crap; it’s a lot easier than acting mature and of sound mind.  The Moose is shot? Fire the bastard. Hughes is not blowing people away trade him to the Rays for prospects, Joba is still afraid of bugs send him to our triple z team in the Philippines (that will fix him), Posada is the same old fat toad from last year? bench the jerk, Alex is talking crap instead of performing? bench the disingenuous punk, Jeter is still batting like a sissy? bench the bastard too. Who’s left? Mo that greedy good for nothing unlike that warrior Goose, bench him too until he learns a couple of more pitches and becomes a guaranteed save adain. Who’s next? I’m exhausted already but it sure feels good. Now I know how you get your kicks cloned Boss. Where is that baby turtle neck sweater? What’s holding you back? You’re the king incapu, You’re fired too.  Go rate those frigging ponies!! And don’t come back until they are ready to do battle. If we are not going to win crap in the AL east (by design) at least we’ll make some money with those ponies. We’ll worry about them WS titles when we have abundant idle time on our hands.
Bruce!!! are you okay???? maybe you spent too much time on the old talk back forum, and it has effected you negitivly !!!!! hahaha   Don't worry!! it will ware off in a day or two!!! But! didn't i warn you about posting over there?  As with me just about gone, you will surly be the next Target !!!!!!

I will say this about the Santana trade. It seems Johan got sick and tired of Minn three ring circus and forced the trade, which I felt he might do. After Minn grew so greedy is evident Santana didn’t want to come back to Minn and continue the charade. That means he’s a Met already. He may try to drive a hard bargain but in his heart of hearts he wants out of Minn. So Wilpon better get that fat checkbook ready and pay the man. SHOW HIM THE MONEY. People remember the great collapse of 2007; all I remember is that the Mets were out by one meager victory but then my opinion doesn’t count I’m not a Mets fan.

Santana will make it possible for the Mets to get to the post season easily (if he stays healthy he’ll be a 20+ game winner in the NL) then once there Beltran will take over (despite what the savvy muts believe or think they know) Beltran will become much more important and Willie better make sure Beltran stays healthy. That’s his ticket to managing in the WS.

The only ugly spot on that roster is the hot dog who chose to go at it with a second rate catcher instead of reaching home plate and saving his team season. Get the mustard ready since he’s going to demand tons of it.

Other than that the Mets will be fun to watch and will have a fine season as long as they don’t underestimate the rest of their division.

Bruce4Real

Wags is happier that a kid with a new toy and I don’t blame him. No more excuses. You got your slate; now run with it.
Bruce4Real

The Mets were the right choice for Santana for various reasons:

They needed to appease their fans because of last season’s meltdown; nothing has worked for Omar so far this winter and their fans were beyond the point of desperation; they can afford to overpay Santana this time and Wilpon better stop being the sissy owner he has sometimes been and remember that all it takes is money and he’s got plenty of that green stuff; they were patient enough to wait Minn out; and the Mets don’t have to face Cleveland a few times a year or in the ALDS or ALCS (the Indians own Santana period). With Santana gone to the Mets we don’t have to listen to the NY tabloids whining about Santana being a sux every frigging day. I have felt for some time now that Santana wouldn’t have been enough to beat the sux, Cleveland or Detroit (the real powerhouse this season, Leyland you can try your own swagger thank you)  this coming season, as good as Santana has been in the AL he could even be a better pitcher in the NL and that should be a problem for the NL to ponder.

Their league their problem.
Bruce4Real

One f the reasons this trade makes me smile is the fact that Minn got screwed and it serves that organization well for being so greedy. They were so confident that by playing the Yankees against the sux (even though we knew there was no way in hell the sux were going to give Santana the kind of money he was looking for) they would end up with a ton of talent meticulously manicured by the Yanks and they just were going to say: just overnight them! Yeah . . . right.

Overnight this!

In the end Minn had to accept what the Mets offered them and I believe that Santana knew that beforehand (sort of) too and that’s why Pappy said a few months ago that Santana had told him he was not going to Foston.

Bruce4Real

Some of the reasons Santana preferred the Mets over the Yankees are (besides having the chance to toy with the NL and win a few more Cy Young’s in the process) the fact that he hasn’t done well at Fenway and he hasn’t done well against Detroit and Cleveland overall either having recently lost to Cleveland in back to back to back games against Sabathia he must have grown a complex by now. SO if he’s going to make a run for a few more Cy Young’s what better place than the NL?

If you're Santana; who would you rather face? The potent Al lineups specially the Mighty Eastern Division and some Central Division teams or the NL lineups? That’s a no brainer. That’s why Santana waited until the Yankees were out of it to make his move and really put pressure on Minn to deal him for whatever was left on the table by then. We Yankee fans understand that and won’t hold it against him. It’s just business.
Bruce4Real

Again. What about them frigging greedy twins?  OGAM

Now NY baseball should be more or less relaxed. WE have our work cut out for us going against everybody’s darlings at Fenway and the real Powerhouse Detroit, less we forget Cleveland and their not so anymore intimidating Carmona and Sabathia. But we look at it as a challenge and we’ll be a better team for the experience (and probably a better team from the start). No worries mate. We like our chances. We don’t know how the Tampa deities are feeling but we like our chances.

If only we could get our hands on that right handed power hitter we need (April is not around the corner yet but I’m sure someone is working on it) oh and the lefty power reliever too.

So the tabloids weren’t kidding; the Twins wanted Jeter and his first born included in the package for Santana. Get real Minnies.

Bruce4Real

So that’s that. Let’s cross that name from our list of potential Yankee pitchers and wish him well. He’s a classy act. And a fine pitcher (when he’s not facing Cleveland).

The muts will claim the Mets beat the Yankees to Santana but what else is new? We know that Omar and Johan know better and that’s good enough.

So let’s recap: the Twins got 4 class C players for Hunter and Santana (I have to laugh again).  Don’t forget to send Theo a thank you card.

Bruce4Real

If we can grow silent for a few days now and let’s clear the stage for those two great teams who will go at each other in the coming Super Bowl.

My heart says GO Giants but the pure fan in me says: may the best team win.  The Pats have been perfect so far and who doesn’t like perfection? Execution baby EXECUTION.

It will be what it will be. Right Belichik?
