There is ample evidence that the Boss has retired. Can you imagine the Yankees being where they are with the payroll they have almost in last place in their Division? . . . . . . . while the Mets are in first place in theirs right in the middle of a hot streak (and they have had their problems too). Do you think Girardi would be still preparing for the next episode of “Ask the Manager.”

A nice thing happened down there in Baltimore besides the Yankees starting a winning trot; Huff a player I like, was teasing Joba (I do believe that was Huff’s intent) as he rounded up the bases. Let’s take it for what it was: a player having fun out there and maybe saying to himself that’s the way I feel when I hit a homer no doubt a feeling he was willing to express because he thought there was nothing wrong with it once he saw or heard about Joba doing the same on the mound and he guessed right because no retaliation came from Joba (as we knew well . . . . none was forthcoming). There is a time for retaliation and a time for retaliation an axiom as old as baseball itself . . . . . . . . that was not one of them.

True stars understand the game so well. NO EXPLANATIONS ARE NECESSARY.

Fair is fair no damage was done. It’s only those foston a$$holes who despite having a good team they have to dig for every single fair or unfair advantage they may find like messing with our young hurlers, from Ortiz pretending he was worried about Joba coming again after Youk to their frigging coaches saying the sux players didn’t really appreciate Joba pumping his fist in celebration. WHO GIVES A SHIIT? Bring it on a$$holes you still owe us that cowardly hit on Doug Mienk (yes it is still fresh on our minds).

And when Joba’s developes into the star of the game as he surely will Beckett won’t be even mentioned in the same breath . . . . . . you can mark my words. We are not putting pressure on Joba to be great or demanding the same. WE KNOW it will happen, superstars are born not made. It took Santana five years to be discovered by his own team in their backyard. It will take JOBA less time.

With Joba we’ll go well beyond the usual “trust your abilities” with Joba it will always be “shoot for the stars” the worst that may happen is he’ll end up on the winning team of the World Series as the MVP. I kid you not. That’s why he will be protected by his organization, his teammates and his fans (his extended family).

WE THE FANS have no problem with Joba expressing himself on the mound. It has been done for many years and we shouldn’t care about other teams being upset by it. Ask them how upset they are about our pedestrian start this season, they are probably loving every minute of it . . . . . my point exactly.

Local tabloids and talk radio shows don’t like it? Tough! We have no problem with that . . . . . . and we have his back. Some teams may retaliate against our players? Guess what? They have been doing that since Torre started managing the team but Torre doesn’t live here anymore.

Let me ask you again: some teams may retaliate against our players? We might no longer have Quantrill, Proctor, Sturtze, El Duque or Farnsworth (I hope you’re happy wherever you are Kyle) but Brunney’s still here and from Burnet to Hughes including Sabathia, Pettitte and Joba they can take good care of our players; and we the fans got your back. The sux have been throwing at our batter for years . . . . . . . . . let’s see if they dare to continue the practice. Beckett threw at Abreu this year so something stopped him from doing it while Abreu was a Yankee.

As far as Joba is concerned let him have fun out there be patient with him he’ll keep you in the game. And JOBA bring it up a notch man from time to time together with location and control . . . . . all that good stuff that excites all fans. That Joba rules is no accident.

Ozzie Guillen on playing baseball the old way: "I know other managers will hit people every other day, and they hide behind the bushes like, 'We tried pitching inside. We didn't mean it.' Oh really? I'm not going to hit anybody when they (opponents) try pitching inside. But if I see a guy throw at my guy, I'm going to throw at your guy." Why do I get the feeling Joe Torre didn’t get that memo? Hey Betty what’s that zip code at Chavez Ravine?

Torre would have said: “If I see a guy throw at my guy, . . . . . .”, “If I see a guy throw at my guy, . . . . . .”, “If I see a guy throw at my guy, . . . . . .” “What can I tell you in all my years in baseball I have never seen a guy throw at my guy . . . . . . . I guess it’s called respect.” Aw . . . . . c’mon Joe calm down have another cup of soothing tea. Jeter goes: “Yeah that's an accurate depiction . . . . . . I . . . don’t think I was ever drilled on purpose by a pitcher while working for Mr. Torre.”

| Bruce4RealPosts: 1681Location: Join Date: November 29, 2007 11:46 PMSend Message | Let me rephrase a previous comment I made, maybe some people thought I was asking Joba to go head hunting, not true, all I was saying was: enough of the "let’s get Joba to tone down his celebrations on the mound.” | |
| Bruce4RealPosts: 1681Location: Join Date: November 29, 2007 11:46 PMSend Message |
This is how the comment should have read: As far as Joba is concerned let him have fun out there be patient with him he’ll keep you in the game. And JOBA bring it up a notch man from time to time (the heat I mean) together with the same great location and control . . . . . all that good stuff that excites fans. That Joba rules is no accident. Happy now? That’s all you’re going to get. |
