I’m back and I was treated to the Mets Network encore presentation of their last game against the Pirates.

Who did I find there? Our boys or actually our former boys: Ross Ohlendorf and Steven Jackson.  We are glad to see them performing at this level.

Never stop trusting your stuff guys.

Bruce4Real

I go away for a few days expecting to find us occupying the first place in our division and we are    . . . . . . . .    tied with that team from up north   . . . . .     ouch.

What we should be doing instead is putting some distance between ourselves and that team which is about to get better    . . . . .     trust me.

Bruce4Real

And I have to wonder what did happen.

Did we run out of ice cream, pies or silly jokes? All in all is good to know WE STILL GOT MELK. One of our key weapons to make it through the playoffs and beyond   . . . . . .  the other one is Tex and Joba maybe    . . . . . . . . . .  a big maybe and ACE I think.  How do I know that? Intuition.  So staying ahead of the curve is not only essential but vital.

The tabloids remind me of the French and Brazilian governments trying to keep up with the daily activity which revolves around the act of finding out what happen to flight AF447 between Brazil and Senegal.

“We have found an oil slick 5 km long and that proves that the flight disintegrated in mid air and might have been the target of a terrorist act    . . . . .  OR NOT.” A couple of days later we learn that none of those pieces of debris were related to the fatidic flight.   Similar to the knowledge our tabloids exude about our game and thus their USELESS predictions.

Bruce4Real

Like when they keep asking Cash and Girardi about when Joba was going to move to the pen and the answer continues to be “He’s not moving to the pen” or “NO he’s staying in the rotation.” But how do the tabloids describe this scenario. Cashman has told us Joba is not going anywhere and then they add:  . . . . . . . . .   At least for now.

Hey what is it about NO they don’t understand?  I got it right the first time and my IQ is probably minus 149 in all relevant scales.

Finally our congratulations to the Unit on reaching a cornerstone     . . . . . . .    his 300th Major League Win.

You may like the guy or not but the fact remains that he is one of the winingest  pitchers in the game and that will always stay with him  and he won his share of games for us.

Bruce4Real

PEARLS for a Penny.

"I sped the game up instead of slowing it down," said Brad Penny about the game they lost to Texas. "I got ahead of myself, started thinking about not one pitch at a time but the second and third pitch I was going to throw. It happens. I made a bad pitch to Kinsler. I just got ahead of myself. I lost focus for a little bit -- made a couple of bad pitches."

"It makes it a little tougher," Penny said. "I'll just work on the things I need to work on between starts and get back out there."

Are you listening      . . . . . . . . . . .   you young studs out there?

Bruce4Real

That was an ugly game despite what the tabloids call a very good outing by C.C. (thirty more of these great outings and the whole fandom will be asking for multiple heads to roll). Mariano disappointed all his fans in the media (we true fans are not surprised by these occasional meltdowns since we have been calling attention to them for years now) but that’s baseball.

The spin is Girardi made a mistake and Mo couldn’t keep his mouth shut. That’s baseball too.

Bruce4Real

I’m sure the fans were wondering what the hell is wrong with Arod despite the fact that the guy just produced two runs on his own let alone the ones affected by Tex who benefits from batting ahead of him.

And the fans were not alone WE SAW those faces in the dugout the faces of THIS HAPPY FAMILY, the image that Swisher and Damon (while trying to convince the Yankees to sign him for additional years) and that ineffective flame thrower we got from lake Ontario keep trying to convey. Damon forgets that he stunk for a long time before he got his moves back sans the effective arm and misdirection of his throws (something that has also affected Swisher in the outfield and Melky and Gardner. We just don’t say much thinking the guys will get their act together one of these days thus my saying “we haven’t won anything yet” ).
Bruce4Real

But some guys in the roster think we pay to see them throw pies at each other on the field or to learn they are having fun in the clubhouse.  The only ones that enjoy all that crap are the members of the media who don’t have the welfare or the performance of the team in mind.

We true fans care about two things: you guys playing to win every time and not getting injured in the process, that’s why we said to Damon when he first got here and was bragging about the way he played the outfield in Foston, we said: we don’t want you to get hurt there is no need to do that we just want your best effort from you and to live up to those stats guaranteed by Boras in his famous proposal to the Yankees the one Foston didn’t believe in, but he has a very fickle memory and that’s also baseball.

And I remember Damon going out of his way to tell us about the overestimated value of Torre to this team. Was he being truthful or was he just trying to please Jeter? I’d go for option number two. Torre’s payback is just what the doctor ordered. I immediately went after Torre so don’t call me a hypocrite, the team comes before anything else except family.
Bruce4Real

We expect this team to win all this year not because that’s what we demand of the team every year, the media and Jeter are the ones making that demand.

We just think enough is enough and after Cashman was ridiculed for going after the two premier studs in professional baseball C.C. and A.J. and Tex and the Yankees were the target of the local and national media for being insensitive to the current economical woes of the nation (English for the sux nation) the least this team can do is try to go all the way (screw the pies, the fun and the spin) and win it all not for US or the Tampa Brass but for them too. Get rid of that CHOKE label once and for all.
Bruce4Real

Having made my point abundantly clear all I want to really say about yesterday’s game is TURN THE PAGE and go and win the series with Tampa when that happens all will be forgotten as usual. Now cut the unnecessary crap and have each other’s back. Foston is not going anywhere    . . . . . . .  we have to make it happen, we can and      . . . . . . . . . .    we SHOULD.
Bruce4Real

If only the ball did this and the bats did that Oh and those umpires    . . . . . . .    so the saying goes.

We almost didn’t make it but this has happened so often this year that we shouldn’t give up     . . . . . . .    talk about a game of inches.  Not a very traditional Yankee victory but who’s checking? We’ll take it and we’ll take 64 more games like that, simple Arithmetic really.

You win every series going forward (April and May just went by and therefore those butterflies should be non-existent except for one or two rookies) and we’ll have more than enough games to spare   . . . . . . .   you might not even have to worry about losing those past five games to Foston. We’ll deal with the home advantage when we cross that bridge.

Great team effort.

Bruce4Real

When you play for the entire nine innings, as Mo says, great things happen. Most times you are able to write your own happy ending. What can you lose? Besides, you’re riding on ACE, he’s got your back!    . . . . . . .    It doesn’t get any better than that.

Maddon is going to be waiting for you next time Girardi; you’ll need to outsmart this guy without over managing. You’ll need to be the best Joe out there; you got the better team. Try some slow breathing between games, you can do it.

Bruce4Real

I think this war of words between the Pirates’ Laroche and the Mets’ Beltran is uncalled for.

Laroche is right to defend his team and reject the words spoken by Beltran which I believed came out in an unintended manner.

Bruce4Real

Having been a fan of Beltran on and off the field for more years that he has been a Met (I always thought he was destined to roam Yankee Stadium centerfield one day but I also understood that unfortunately the conditions for him to join the team were not ripe at the time he became a FA which is also one of the reasons I stopped being a fan of Bernie I thought Bernie played a very selfish card in his last years with the Yanks regarding what he could or could not do and I will add that Torre took the cheapest shot against Beltran in that piece of crap snipe job he did with verducci the pre-eminent Yankee hater and Beltran behaved like the better man and just ignored Joe Torre’s insults.

But is Laroche right about Beltran being classless and unprofessional? The answer is a resounding NO and I vouch for that.

Bruce4Real

Here is one of the brightest stars in the game who glides on the base paths and in center field with very unearthly and elegant moves all of his own, a true student of the game, who plays injured most of the time because he covers the CF with total abandon and when his stats go south it’s always because he’s hurting YET he seldom complains similar to Arod and Jeter who never make excuses about their injuries and how they affect their play on the field.
Bruce4Real

Beltran also takes tons of abuse form his classless fans day in and day out and he takes it better than any other player.

I thought when the Mets lost those games vs. Pitsburgh Beltran's degree of frustration was way off the charts and he couldn’t help erupting in public against what he thought was a lack of intensity (thanks Maddon) on the part of his team and he blurted those words: “we know we are a better team than them”, maybe the English version didn’t come out right. I’m sure he meant “we know we are a better team than that” but he’s a proud man and he’s not going to back down because he feels he can play with the best in the game which he clearly DOES.

Bruce4Real

Laroche also seems to be a decent man; I’m sure is all a misunderstanding and they will turn the page and go back to concentrate on the game they love.

At least that’s my opinion and now you can go and tell me to go mind my own business which I’ll do of course.

Bruce4Real

That takes care of another series. Have we forgotten how to take care of business one game at a time or concentrate on one pitch at a time? Andy seems to be going that way. He was so worried about everything: the man on first base or second or third except the batter and that’s how they got to first base, second or third in the first place. Maybe Cashman and Girardi should make him fight for a spot in the rotation that would bring an instant improvement to this performance and better control of his repertoire. Why not last time I've checked Igawa still was in AAA ball?
