Topic: Brendan Witt voted Worst Player in the NHL

Great article on our #1 defenseman....You think he's doing this on purpose to get his *** traded off this team...actually who could blame him. Regardless he needs to be moved.

The guy that wrote this article is an ***. First off, Witt has been playing hurt since the knee injury. Second, he's a guy that fits a very specific defensive role. He's a stay at home man on man, assignment d-man. He shuts down a player or two and plays hard around the net. In comes Gordon to re-invent the NHL and has the team playing a zone type D. Rather than have a vet dman do what he's getting payed 3mil a year to do Gordon has him play a game he's not equiped to play. Allow the guy to do what he does best. He's done a great job til Gordon came along with this system and now he suddenly can't play the game. I wonder why Al Arbour didn't try to get Gord Lane and Dave Langevin to play run and gun hockey? Maybe they would've won that 5th cup if he had.

I dont know anything about the guy who wrote the article and i dont agree with him either. Their is No question that Witt is having a Bad Year however that go's along with Team itself. Not to mention that Witt plays over 19 mins a game and Like you said Jack he is a stay at home denfenseman and plays a physical game. And you make a good point of Gordons (Nonexistent) System to me and i go to the games, it seems like they play most of the game in their own end, get out shot and lose the game. Since the Team has the most goals against in the NHL that might have somthing to do with the System which in return reflects on Witt. There is also the Fact that because of this system these players are not back checking well and getting caught up in the offensive end which dont help Witt at all.

Lets also point out the Goalie situation that dont help as well. It is amazing to me the Way everybody is turning on the guy when he was outspoken about the system and played like a rock last year and Brillant Garth Snow signed him to a new 3 yr deal, now he sucks!It is not Witt, Witt is just the Reflection of Gordons so called system. Look the islander have 13 wins "What F'n System is that"

Totally agree! Watch the D system next time you're at a game. If they play it Gordons way they play a zone similar to the way you play on the PK as apposed to the way the rest of the world where everyone takes a man. That's why it looks like the OP is on a power play half the game. When the play is on the boards our dmen are too small and weak and loose most of the battles for the puck. The fowards are in the way of the D most of the time. I can't count how many times KO gets in a Dmans way or in the way of a clearing pass. This is not Witts game. Every player can't play the same way. I don't understand why Gordon refuses to employ a shutdown mode along with his system. That's why they can't hold a lead.
