At 15 if he is as good as MORONS like you think he is he would be playing and dominating with the 17 and 18 year olds. This my final response to IDIOTS like you and DiggityBomb THE TWO OF YOU ARE BOOT LICKERS THAT CANNOT HANDLE THE TRUTH.

For the simple fact that he plays in the city when the season is over, kid can play. Hes really good, just face the fact. He starred at some of the biggest tournaments in the nation, against the best compettion, thats why so many colleges want him. He brings it against the best, which is why hes regarded as one of the best.........

Those that care about basketball, should just wish for some good games in the playoffs. In terms of Harris, please limit the talk about this 10th grader. He is a very good player in sane person's evaluation process. Those that say anything else, just don't know what they are talking about. It has seemed to me that the reason that Harris is getting such backlash is that there are some that come on this board and rave about him well beyond not only his talents, but the talents of just about any player not named Michael Jordon. All this has done is dwarf Harris's acomplishments with overstatement. Those that bash this excellent player are way out of line and I strongly disagree that a 15 year old should be criticiized to the level I have been seeing. It is uncalled for and downright mean.  I have seen some of the pro Harris posts start to acknowledge the contributions of his team mates instead of the early posts which would have a reader believe that he is nearly the sole reason that HHH West is winning it's games. This is exactly what creates team turmoil and those that portray Harris that way are doing him a diservice. There are way too many arguments on if Harris has offers from top D-1 schools. It seems that he is getting interest from top teams. This doesn't mean they have made their final evaluations of him and at this point they CANNOT make an offer. Yes they can lead people to believe that they will eventually offer a certain player, but too much can happen between 10th grade and senior year.Since Indiana has been one school to supposedly make an offer, they are a good example to use. They may have to change coaches in the next few weeks and it would be foolish to think that a new coach would be locked into unofficiial interest that his predecsessor may have shown.I have seen Harris play and can attest to his excellent shooting skills and very soft touch of how he uses the backboard from in close. You cannot argue that these skills are highly developed for someone so young. Add to this a body that is still deveoping and currently stands at 6"7". You cannot teach height!Does he have the spped and quickness to be a high level player at D-1? The jury is still out. This doesn't mean he won't, it just means he does not seem to demonstrate these skills at high D-1 levels as yet. Is he a good team player? Who knows? He has shown that he does not use his team mates well as yet. This may be due to the team style and he should not take blame for this part of his game. I have seen certain posters claim that Harris makes a ton of outstanding passes to set his team mates up when he gets less than 20 points in a game. This is just pure fiction. My point is, give Harris the credit he has earned, conjecture on his upside if you want, but don't go overboard as it seems to be causing more harm than good. Give his team mates credit for being good players. Each of the starters and the two top subs could be real contributors in D-3 basketball and a couple might even have some D-2 potential. That is not bad and VERY impressive for a high school team.Best of luck tonight HHH West and I hope you have learned the best way to set yourselves up to deal with defenses that have been designed to stop Harris and dare the rest of the team to beat them. For old adult who has nothing better to do but to hate on a 15 year old kid and to hide behind web board i only have one word for you get a life your comments are rediculous and mean spirit.

he wouldnt be a Huge name in the city... come back here in 8 years and see where Harris is..Last time i checked a huge name in the city/staten island was Marbury.... where is he again? O yeah, the NBA... City > Li at bball but so what.. Harris has d1 potential, but he WILL NOT start unless its a low D1 school or he hits the weight room. His biggest problem is that he's playing at Hills with no supporting cast. Every great player from the Island had someone they could go to. Kupchek had Jamie Franklin. Beaver Smith had Greg Smith. Alagia had 4 D 1 players. That's from the 70's. Wally played in the small schools so he doesn't count. He was a freak. Gugliotta had a nice team. Danny Green had nice players with him. AJ Price had Fraser and visa versa. So the bottom line is that Harris needs his sister on the team otherwise he'll just be another small D 2 forward. And I do agree withthe Truth about the weight room. Watching Glenn/Harborfields tonight it was evident that HF hits the room. Glenn's Eugene got pushed around like a revolving door. If he ever hits the weights, watch out.
| DixhillsfanPosts: 33Location: Join Date: January 26, 2008 5:35 PMSend Message | In years gone by, I would have to agree that not having a strong supporting high school cast around a star player would stunt that player's growth. This is no longer the case as AAU ball has a bigger role than the high school season. Hills West has a good supporting cast and would not be 20-0 if this were not the case. I have always felt that Hills needed a different offensive configuration to maximize Harris's talents. Several multi screen plays would free up Harris for mid range jump shots which he would drill at a very high percentage. Harris should also be used for other aspects to assist the team such as rebounding. What sense does it make to have him on the offensive side of the court when a foul shot is taking place at the other end of the floor and a 6'2"guard is in one of the two lower box rebounding positions? Harris is also stationed at half court often to take advantage of easy break away fast breaks. That is fine, however if he were rebounding and sending out an outlet pass, then this play would work more often as Hills has other players who can catch the ball at mid court and go in for a lay up and in fact a 6'7" rebounder would make this happen more often. The key to a championship is to take advantage of the other players on the team when the defense overplays Harris. It was fun to see Mitch Kupchak's name mentioned. Not only did he have Jamie Franklin, but also Alphonso Owens to make them one of Long Island's most dominant teams ever. A quick note to Island34. I don't know what to say to you other than you must not be too bright. Your attack of me is out of line. You will one day learn to respect age a little more in that it can give you some perspective of players that have come before Harris. I have nothing but respect for his abilities, yet I have commented that there are some posters (you being the greatest example) that focus only on Harris for Hills success. This is not "hating" on him and only a moron or someone so limited in focus would see it that way. Sylvester Stallone is a very good actor and one of the best action characters of all time. It is not "hating" on him to question his ability to do Shakespere if a bunch of people are going around saying he is the best actor without limitation. Perhaps Stallone can do Shakespere and the question is unfair, but he would need to prove it first and a realistic person would understand the question being asked. It would be nice to see some comments from Island34 on the abilities and performances of Harris's team mates. | ||||||||||||

Keep in mind Harris is 15 right now and played in the 16U elite level. Tobias led the team to the quarterfinals out of 64 teams scoring 27 points in a close defeat to the eventual champion (I believe the D1 greyhounds or SoCal Allstars) in a game that went down to the wire. He made all tourney team.

| DixhillsfanPosts: 33Location: Join Date: January 26, 2008 5:35 PMSend Message | Diggity, you post a page from a recruiting site that's sole purpose is to sell their information to recruitniks to make a profit. While there is nothng wrong with this, it is to these site's best interests to market players to keep the interest of those that pay for this information. The people who run these sites get most of their information from people that are also trying to promote a given athlete. I would be amazed that news of Harris's 52 point game was realized by any other method that someone close to Harris promoting this information to the web site. To then paste in this information as a proof source is just another example of the public relations machine that some are spending a lot of time trying to feed. You ask why someone would reach a final determination of why Harris will not be a high level D-1 player when he has two years of high school left. This is an excellent question and those that try to state that he cannot achieve this level seem to be either mean spirited or not allowing for the possibility that Harris will grow into that type of player. I suspect that the reason that these posters seem to take such drastic positions is that you put forth the statement that a final decision that he will be a high level D-1 player is a forgone conclusion already. I for one hope he will and would love to see a Dix Hills kid make it big. It would be foolish to all but guanantee that Harris will achieve this level. There have been too many in the past from Long Island (and many other places) that seemed ready to excel at the next level and not make it happen. One example is Stan Wilcox who went to Notre Dame when they were a hot national program. Wilcox never made an impact, but at least he was projected during his senior year to be among the very best. Allow Harris to continue to develop before his supporters try to force his abilities down everybody's throats. If I were to compare him to a player from Long Island in the past it would be Matt Doherty should Harris continue to develop. That is a compliment to Harris, as Doherty was a top player. If he were to achieve a scholarship to a school like North Carolina and have the privilage to play with players like Worthy and Jordan like Doherty did, then that would be great. The point is that Doherty had a much more polished game than Harris did and was a complimentary player, not a star. Doherty could have gone elsewhere and been the main option, but he never would have achieved the level of success that he did by being a team player. Doherty was able to develop his game to be a good team player. It remains to be seen if Harris can develop this skill. If he cannot, then one has to ask, can he be close to as good as Doherty. Help set realistic expectations (for now) and allow for Harris to fit into a system that wins a high school title. This experience will set him up to be the best he can be and more importantly be a happy kid that can enjoy the success he has and not always be promoted as something he is not as yet. | ||||||||||||

He lies in his articles and creates a buzz where there is none. Sites like his and MaxPreps are there solely to sell product and create hype that isn't there. It was great seeing the other little ***** Pavinelli from Doms on Mike Breen's show. Nice T-shirt Pavs. The AAU is destroying High School Basketball and we post about web sites that help to destroy it. Funny thing about Mike Breen and those "coaches" sitting around the dinner table. All of them are New Balance schools. In other words, they promised to buy NB sneakers at reduced prices and they get the right to be on Breen's HS show. He pulled the same crap with LI football coaches and promised them if they bought New Balance they would get on TV. *****S, all of them. But to the credit of the HS coaches from LI, No one bought shoes just to get on TV.
