They've been ranked all season. How is that "under the radar"?

hoopsanalyzer12

they sure seem worthy of going upstates. quite impressive without mikey and marcus..

No. I guess they technically are related, but he is not petrie's grandson.

Center Moriches handled East Hampton tonight.  Russell looked bad, ward couldn't hit a shot for his life in the first half.  CM out-athleticized (I'm aware of the fact that this isn't a zone) them with their zones and presses.  Haven't seen a crowd that silent in years

easthampton has two and only two scorers. i like ward and he cleans the glass but i just can't see him as a legit option offensively. russell can shoot the hell out of it, but if he's not on, they're in trouble. hard to do night in and night out.

Didn't Ward have 30 points the other night?

bsoxfan2418

obviously in yo grill was not there or was not paying close attention to the game.

also east hampton just had a bad game, as soon as the started playing how they usually do, they came very close.

russell wasnt the only one off, everyone was missing shots,

hey, the kid's a nice ballplayer and i'm impressed by what he's done so far but he's not the caliber of 2nd scorer that i'd be happy with. plus east hampton basically has one kid who can break a defender down and score and that's russell. there is literally nobody else. he also happens to be their only LEGITIMATE 3-point shooter.

That's not entirely correct.  I've seen at least 4 other kids off the bench that can hit threes and score.  On a Petrie coached team, everyone has a role to fulfill.  If they don't do exactly what he coaches them to doin a specific offense, they will get benched and the kids know it.  So while some seem scared to want to go to the basket or shoot the trey, its not because they can't, but because if they miss, they're out of the game.  This is the reason EH is consistently good.  The players do what they are coached to do.  Can hurt sometimes when the scorers have an off night, but over the long run its been proven to work.  Just check his record.

I'm an East Hampton fan, but more to the point, a basketball fan. What I saw against Center Moriches  was not so much a bad game on EH part, but an exceptional game on Center Moriches part. Knowing that EH has only one player-Russell- capable of handling the ball under pressure, CM dogged him 3/4 court all game, got him tired and frustrated, and impatient w/shot selection. Eh must play cleaner and smarter against the press from now on. Any coach seeing this game had a template to beat EH. In a way, it's exactly what EH did to opponents the entire Mike Russell/ Marcus Edwards era: Harrass poor ball handling teams into turnovers and easy points. Only difference is EH did it mostly from a half-court high pressure defense, rarely pressing. EH is not the unflappable team of the past few years. No matter what Mike R. is off the court, on the court he could beat any two pressing defenders easily. His ball-handling skills were very rare. Marcus E. was always a steadying factor and underrated ball handler. Anybody who saw the game saw two guards-the Ward bros-who may be as close to Mike in quickness and dribbling ability as you will see this year. This game was not an upset, CM is deep and sound.

East Hampton's two man attack will not get them a county championship for class A

Vulchar99999

I agree, Suffolk County Class A is very strong this year with other teams such as Amityvile, Glenn, Huntington, and Harborfields. I highly Doubt they will be able to defeat all of these teams come February for the Class A Title.

after one bad game you guys bash on them.

lets see how they do in their league. and i think the Class A long island champ will come out of league 6.

I don't think anyone is bashing them, the truth about East Hampton this year is that they have two talented players(Russell and Ward) and the rest are not that good. They will most likely win the league but I'm not sure about Suffolk or LI
