Is there a threepeat on the horizon? Also, good luck to Da Kid from Da Hills as he plays his schwanengesang during the next three months. Newsday will hopefully do a good job in chronicling his exploits in the 1000, 1600, 3200 and relays this season. Go Colts! Just one person's observations!

I invite one and all to come down to our Fieldhouse (corner of the LIE and Wicks Rd.) and watch an amazing array of sprinters, jumpers, hurdlers, shot putters, middle and long distance runners, both young men and young women

For the benefit of those Newsday.com/print edition readers that don't know when the next track meet is to be held at Suffolk County Community College's West Campus in Brentwood, below is a rundown of some meets (for Suffolk County schools) that I know about (and I'm sure that there are others that I don't know about): Wed., 1-2-08: Zeitler Relays for Leagues 1 & 2 (Girls Winter T/F Teams), 5:00-10:00 PM Fri., 1-4-08: Winter Relays (Boys Winter T/F Teams), 5:00-10:00 PM Sat., 1-5-08: Crossover D (Girls Winter T/F Teams), 9:00 AM-7:00 PM {Check the website www.just-in-time-racing.com for details as to the girls teams participating in one of the four meets to be held this day; on the home page of this website click on the "Winter Track" link, then click on the "Section XI Girls Schedule" link, then click on the "Crossover Meets" tab at the bottom of the page, then scroll down to the Crossover D part of the page to see which meet your girls team is participating in on this day.} Sun., 1-6-08: Frosh/Soph Championships (Boys Winter T/F Teams), 10:00 AM-4:00 PM Wed., 1-9-08: Zeitler Relays for League 3,4 & 5 (Girls Winter T/F Teams), 5:00-9:00 PM In the interest of saving space on this forum, the reader can go to the website described for the Sat., 1-5-08 meet above and access the complete schedule for either boys or girls teams from Suffolk. The listed meets are contested at the Fieldhouse of Suffolk County Community College's West Campus in Brentwood. It is located on the west side of Wicks Road, about one-half mile south of the Long Island Expressway (LIE). You can reach it by entering the Suffolk West campus' east gate, which is the first traffic light south of the LIE. After entering the east gate, turn left at the stop sign and make the first right. You'll see the Fieldhouse on your left. Just one person's observations!

| IntrestedObserverPosts: 12Location: Join Date: December 6, 2007 9:45 PMSend Message | Congratulations to Jared Squires (3:18.0), Christian Bottin (52.4), Harold Jamison (2:00.2) and Kyle Merber (4:18.6) on their victory in the Championship section of the Distance Medley Relay at the Brown Invitational Track & Field meet this past Friday, 12-28-07. Their time of 10:30.03 qualifies them for both the National Scholastic Indoor Classic (held at The Armory) and the Nike Indoor Nationals (held at the Prince Georges Sports Complex in Landover, Maryland, next to the Washington Redskins Fedex Field) which will be held the third weekend in March, 2008. On Saturday, the same quartet came back and "reprised" their performance with a scintillating 8:06.54 in the 4x800 relay. The happy young men (shown below) seem poised to do some damage in the 4x800 during the rest of this winter season.
Congratulations once again to the Half Hollow Hills West young men on their fine performances! Just one person's observations! |
