If anyone can get info regarding my previous post about what high school sport has the most participants or where such info is available, I would appreciate it. I still think more do track than any other sport.

But lets see the meet was Friday and it got in Wednesday's paper. I guess it takes a snowstorm and everything else to be postponed to get a track article in the paper. Good luck to all tomorrow night.

Section XI FanYou can add two more track athletes to your list of collegesKathryn Marshall...Brown University (IVY LEAGUE)Jaclyn Marshall... Columbia University (IVY LEAGUE) Way to go to both of your daughters. You should be very proud. The best thing about the two of them is that academics come first, just by the schools they have chosen you can tell. Columbia seems like the Long Island Connection now. Jaclyn ran very good last night in both the 3000 and the 1500. Amazing how this small Kings Park school has done so much in XC and Track without one of the counties best long distance runners in Kathryn. Example to all... Work hard, study harder, get your education, and never ever give up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's amazing, we thought she fell but then weren't sure because we saw that her and another runner got tangled up but she seemed to be running fine right after that and was right back in the race almost immediately.
| SECTIONXIFAN08Posts: 28Location: Join Date: February 9, 2008 11:59 PMSend Message | We will see what the newsday coverage is tomorrow and hopefully it will better than the coverage the girls received at the Suffolk Large schools meet. Great job either way to all the boys and girls who ran almost till midnight. Plenty of action and great races. Fans seemed to really get into it especially for the high jump and the relays. Looking foward to watching the states and national meets. Plenty of talent graduating but it seems never ending, because so many are still going to be around. Northport and SWR seem like the Boys and Girls are all coming back and North Babylon SP Vanessa Stewart(amazing only in 10th, Shotput PB of 44-08.25) and Sachem N. Long jumper Ramona Carryl (Amazing only in 8th, Long Jump PB 17-10.25 Long jump) Janie Turek and Ali Foote both only in 9th. Jaqvan Holland of Bellport(PB of 6.54 in 55 Meter and took 1st place overall and only a 10th grader)( Bellport Football coaches are going to love this kid the next two years, Austin Cohen of John Glenn, Victor Drew of Amityville( Triple PB of 42-10.5), Alec Baron of SWR(Triple PB of 41-11), Zach Kollmer of Mt. Sinai (10ft in Pole Vault (only freshman boy in state quals it seemed), Joseph Neckles of Brentwood, Drake Jackon of Northport, plenty of super sophs except for a freshman and already doing great things in track and field. | |

Please post your times and other information for your races on here for everyone to see because its not going to be in Newsday tomorrow. Its going to be more wrestling.... Two pages on wrestling and almost a half of a page on who is wrestling who in the semis and finals. We could have kept that out and put in who won at the girls and boys state quals for track and field but I am not a writer or publisher just a customer.lol. All high schools sports on Long Island are competitive and these kids achieve many things but no sport except maybe lacrosse has more kids go to big time schools and win big honors. Brittany Llobel of Sayville, Kelly Abbate of Northport, Samantha D' Amato of Northport in the girls 2 Mile Race. Charelen Lipsey of Hempstead, Jant Mellor of Mt Sinai, Nyree Richardson of Elmont, and Janie Turek of Mt Sinai all in the 400 Meters Dash. Farath Raphael of HHHE, Karli Johnson of Mt Sinai, Kristine Semetis of Sachem E., Emily Cauchi of Mt Sinai, and Breana Eng of sachem East in the girls 55 hurdles. Jibuike-Blount, Nedinma of Freeport in the 55 Dash. Girls 4 x 800 is Garden City, Ward Melville, Northport, Northshore, and East Meadow. Boys Anthony Kearse of South Shore in the 55 Dash. Keenan Weaving of HHHW in the 55 Hurdles with Ryan Baist, Joe Micheels, and Thomas Dulovic all of St. John the Baptist. 400 Dash is Terrence Livingston of Great Neck S., Paul Thimote, Noel Borwn, Marlon Mcleod all of Elmont, Michael Schieck of Chaminade. Boys 4 x 800 features St. Anthony's, Chaminade, Kellenberg, and HHHW. Boys 2 Mile is Chris Toon. Charles Donnelly of Chaminade, and Mike Yang of Oceanside. Goodluck to you all. Do your best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

That is great and thats the US #2 time of the year and Kellenberg ran the same 7:47 which is the US #3 time of the year in the 4x800 Boys but the number went to the team from New Bern NC which only beat these two great catholic schools out by .02 for the US #1 time of the year and US #10 time in the history of HS track and field. Always great job to Garden City with a US #4 time in the 4x800 for the girls in a time of 9:10.
| SECTIONXIFAN08Posts: 28Location: Join Date: February 9, 2008 11:59 PMSend Message | USATF Cross Country Nationals in San Diego California today had one of Long Island's best ever in Ryan Sheridan Walt Whitman(Soph Sensation) who never ever gave up and sat two years and still went to US #2 IONA after his Senior year of HS. Ryan ran the Jr. 8K race and came in second losing by only 1 second in a time of 24:19 to German Fernandez(Riverside, CA HS Senior who placed 3rd at Footlocker Nationals this xc season). Way to go Ryan so glad everything worked out and your back out there. Its going to be amazing watching IONA with all that talent and Joe Parks(Deer Park) as well as many other great talents and maybe another Section XI runner who hasn't signed yet?![]() | |
| SECTIONXIFAN08Posts: 28Location: Join Date: February 9, 2008 11:59 PMSend Message | Coming in 30th in the same race at the USATF in San Diego was Brendan Martin GIO's ex teammate and Merber's soon to be new teammate in a time of 25:57 for the 8K. In the girls race Jordan Hasay which most of you know, have seen, or heard of, just ran a 20:32 in the girls 6K, winning by 13 seconds over a superstar from Stanford and beating many of the countries best. Greatest thing is she is overcoming an injury from December, is only a HS Junior but ran a 9:23 in the 3000 last week and only received 3 sentences for this 3000 in her local paper. Just amazing how some of these kids even the greats like Jordan Hasay who most likely is going to make the olympics, turn pro, and maybe even win a gold medal someday only get a few lines or nothing at all in the paper but if your an All county athlete in other sports you can get a page because you scored 30 points in a basketball game or 5 touchdowns in a football game, its just unbelievable. The way you kids are running, getting faster and faster every year and destroying these records they wont have an option but to listen, look, and write. some day. Keep it up, work hard, love your sport, and always give your all. | |

I guess she'll be doing the sprint races(200,300,400) and long jump while attending Lehigh and maybe walking on to the soccer team or trying xc?lol Also a great school academically and just to show everyone it is another student athlete (runner) who has put the academics first. Way to go, goodluck in the spring and at Lehigh.

All the great schools have atleast one girl or guy except maybe Arkansas and Texas and they have Charles White(Garden City to Co) and Willie Ahearn from CT. thats close enough.lol. Make sure you send an email to all of the sites Newsday, Armory, and Dyestat becaust many of you are only on one site and you all deserve to be on all of them. Maybe even a Newsday write up!!! Ill even do it.lol |
