As we all have been expressing our ideas and beliefs about what each team will do and whose fast in the county/state. What do you guys think is really going to happen when these meets arrive?

So come on, Leave your predictions here...This is how I feel Nassau County Champs will end up:

Left to right: 1st, 2nd, 3rd

200 medley- GNS, Jericho, LB

200 free- Cerra/Spinella/One June - I'm sorry this race is way too close to call

200 IM- Samuel Mo, Daniel Mo, and Kevin Ling (Herricks)

50 free- Kowalsky, Cabasino, Smitham

Diving- I feel that LB's Nick Smith will finally come around and give Wantagh's James O'Neil a run for his money...Smith needs to get LB points to even give them a shot at 3rd place. Smith, O'Neil, Castaldi

100 fly- Cerra, Kowalsky, Yang

100 free- One June, Cabasino, Adam Chang

500 free- Lennon (nobody's going to challenge this kid), Heinemann, Nickey

200 free relay- Jericho, LB, Plainview (GNS will not do this relay...take easy points in the 400 relay)

100 back- Spinella (County Record Time!), Solomon, Adam Chang

100 breast- Samuel Mo, Yalim Okkan, and Didi Peng

400 free relay- GNS, Jericho, Bellmore-Merrick

you think austin will beat cabasino?  Cabasino has already been under 22 twice this season!  Plainview in the 2free relay?  What about Manhasset?  so with your predictions who will win it all?

GNS takes the victory less than 30 points from Jericho. One heck of a close county this year! It may come down to people like cerra and spinella (on Herricks and Sewanaka) that take away points from Jericho and GNS...so these teams end up missing those 4 or 5 points per race that may mean the difference when you add the scores up.

OJC lead off the 200 free relay at a blistering 21.99. Is he making a statement? Fast swimming this past weekend at Divisions. The making of a great County Championship.

GNS will win every event except for Diving. No one else has a chance.
chriscrutcherfan

EVERY event except for diving??  You are quite the supportive fan Laughing

OJ Chang can't swim every event... and 2 of GNS's 4 fastest swimmers are freshmen.  they can't be expected to pull up the rear on every other event.

chriscrutcherfan

actually, make that 2 of GNS's fastest swimmers are freshment.  another one is an 8th grader.

anybody know if most of the teams tapered for this meet?

and i raced One June Chang a couple times at club meets. he's an amazing swimmer and you can't ever underestimate him, but i do have to say he takes swimming way too seriously.

nassauswimfan

I would think most HS teams will shave and taper for this meet.  The only ones that would are LIAC National kids who only shave and taper for Junior and Senior nationals.

Some more predictions -

Look for LB to make a statement in the 50 - 100 - 100fly and 200free relay.  That is where they are strong.  Look for GNS to try and place 2 kids in the top 5 in most events, win 2 relays.  Look for Jericho to try and use its depth to counter act, plus their new found strength in the 50.  It all starts tomorrow with diving.

The swimmer of the meet will be the winner of the 100 (if OJ and Cabasino do it)

nassauswimfan

Anyone have diving results?  How did GNS and Jericho divers do???  Where there any major upsets?

By the looks of the psych sheets it's gonna be one close meet!

NYSSwimfan57

Looks as if diving turned out as we expected. Wantagh's James O'neil took first with a 410 while LB's Nick Smith took 2nd with a 385 (off their scores from divisions). Will that 21 pt advantage LB already has be enough to hold off the incredible depth of Jericho and GNS? One more day fellas
jayhawkswimfan

its only a 7 point advantage....... jericho scored 14 points in diving. gns scored 0. both gns and jericho are just ridiculously deep i doubt beach can hold them off
nassauswimfan

Wow...what a weekend.....

I guess you can say it was a tale of 2 days.  Friday night belonged to Jericho and Saturday belonged to GNS.  What awesome swims!

Cabisino goes 21.4, OJ goes 46.0  Spinella goe 51.8 to win the back!!!  Who won swimmer of the meet...OJ or Cerra??

What a great meet.  Looks like section 8 will be a force at the state meet!  Multiple swimmers in scoring positions.

How does LB do it every year?  Another 2free relay...Guess when you have a 20.9 on the anchor everyone else can go 23

So many excellent races this weekend I was truly amazed by everyone's performance. This is kinda odd, did anybody see that LB's breaststroker split faster than their backstroker on the medley relay in finals? I want to mainly say Congratulations on Jericho's performance. Two years ago everybody doubted that team; they weren't a factor in the county meet and look at them now...2nd place! Coach Stern has done a great job with that team and I'm proud of what he has been able to do with those kids. Does anybody know where to find the CHSAA championships results that took place after section 8's counties? I know their finals are today...Would be great to find out about these other swimmers that are going to be at states in a month.
