Well Mr 1BAYMAN….first stop YELLING.  In case you are unaware capitalizing indicates YELLING. Either you are unaware or just angry , either way STOP YELLING!

I case of a tie record and split decision, head to head, Suffolk uses margin of victory to decide who represents Suffolk at the LI Championships.

Note: The League Champion is the team that represents Suffolk at the Championships. They do not include any results from the Counties

There is your example.

LEts get something straight. I never cursed out anyone. I never said anything BAD about Brian. All I said was if EVERYONE in the gym saw Fishler hooked up and Brian didnt, thats HIS problem. Youre the one using bad language in your post, not me. Are you okay??? Go take a break.

Secondly, I think all GC AND GNS fencers are fabulous and I wish them all best of luck!!! (as I have already said)

Thirdly arent you the one that did not get all your stuff together to be the coach at GNS this year? So dont talk about order and rules when you have none yourself. Stop arguing with me and making me seem "immature" when I am simply STATING FACTS and OBSERVATIONS. You dont know what rules were used either everyone else is proing you wrong anyway.

Any further remarks from you towards me will be ignored going forward because YOU cant comprehend, not me and because I am not immature, you are just stuck in your own little day dream ... wake up its the real world.  Good day to all.

Well lets just all settle down.  For some reason, the fencing coaches in Nassau are very sensitive.  Some of them were/are great fencers.  What we have here is the proverbial "failure to comminicate".  If Robert was a head of the Nassau coaches last year, somebody else this year, and there are several different rulebooks flying around and being applied, then WE have a problem that bickering here will not solve. The problem is that fencing in Nassau at the high school level is nowhere near as organized as is Suffolk. This does ultimately hurt kids.

Every Suffolk HS result is posted at Newsday.com, they even have posted standings.  Nassau, no standings, and minimal results are reported.  Why?  Because Nassau lacks organization.  I understand that some of the coaches try to take the bull by the horns, but it hasn't, and isn't working.

We need a steering committee of coaches, parents, school administrators, etc.... to work with the governing body in Nassau (Section VIII) so all information, from coaches first aid certification, to what rules will be followed, as well as a "method" to detrmine disputes.

I suggest a website, on behalf of Nassau County HS Section VIII Fencing, where rules, requirements and results can be posted and relied on. If everyone feels as passionately about this sport as is reflected here online, it would be to everyone's benefit. Hey, we can even have some of the private clubs pay $5.00 a month so we can pay for the service fee' for maintaining and hosting the site.  every school fencing team can even have their own section abut their team which the coaches can upload information on their team, etc.....

Its the lack of information that is killing this sport in Nassau County.

Garden City's Tringa captures girls sabre title

Celebrating the winning touch with a simple fist pump, Elena Tringa capped a career in which she became one of the most decorated girls fencers in Garden City history.

Tringa finished the season with a 37-1 record as she defeated Cold Spring Harbor's Olivia Curry, 5-1, in the sabre final at yesterday's Nassau Individual Fencing Championships. The senior captain became a three-time county champion and the only girls sabre champion in Garden City history.

Tringa worked hard this season on improving certain aspects of her approach, one of which was masking her aggression.

"She was much calmer this year," said Garden City coach Michael Kreidman. "That's not to say she was out of her mind as a junior, but this year she was very relaxed."

    • Tringa never let go one of the primal screeches that tend to echo frequently in the heat of battle. Not once against Sutherland did she lose her balance, despite her aggressive attempts to score. By all accounts, the improvement is because she joined the Manhattan Fencing Club, where she has worked on technique and fine-tuned her game for national competition and, perhaps, a collegiate career.

She trained there with members of the U.S. National Team, many with several years of experience in international competition.

"Her technique is a lot cleaner," said Kreidman, who has worked with Tringa since her freshman year. "She only went big this year when she needed to. She never worked too hard for a bout."

With her in-match demeanor polished and overall fencing improved, Tringa became focused on containing a different kind of emotion.

"It's been so sad this year because I know it's coming to an end," Tringa said. "I'm really going to miss it."

In boys sabre, Great Neck South's Jeremy Klepner won over Garden City's Ryan O'Halloran. In boys epee, Clifford Fishler won over Great Neck South's Brad Harmeyer. In girls epee, Oyster Bay's Courtney Collins won over North Shore's Rachel Burke. In girls foil, Garden City's Jan Gong defeated Edonia Sera of Herricks. In boys foil, A.J. Szilagyi of Cold Spring Harbordefeated Oyster Bay's Connor Kreye.
