Topic: Pre season top 3 LI travel softball teams in each age group

The 3 have excellent rep and schedule. Isn't Pennsbury a big tournament of the season along with Delaware and DWI? Some LI teams are not in any of them.

Pennsbury ia an excellent NFCA showcase. May even be too big. The issue for Long Island teams is the timing. Its a three day showcase the week before a significant number of Regents exams. Tough on Juniors who are the targeted players. Delaware is one of the best run tournaments. It is team friendly. You play 4 pool games, 2 Friday, 2 Saturday and they are back to back one day in am one day in PM. The main field is beautifu and setup with a coaches tower where the coach can view all 4 fields. Once you get a coach commited to your field you know they are interested. You play one of the two days at main complex Coaches love the tournament because 100 per cent of proceeds go to local softball efforts. Not the same with some others.

Rising Stars in Florida is a great tournament October and January.

Sudden Impact yes, Chargers yes,Team LI Okay, Bandits NO, not this year anyway, maybe last year.

I'd have to say that our LI Travel teams are pretty well represented at the various NorthEast and MidAtlantic strong tournaments where probably 95% of the girls will be attending school.

How can anyone rate these teams?  Each year players come and go, rarely are the teams the same.  The only thing that is somewhat constant are the coaches who most of the time are coaching for themselves.  I have see enough of them to understand that their egos are more important than getting their girls seen, with a few rare exceptions.

You must wait until after school ball is over and at least the first two weekends of tournaments have taken place to get any sort of ranking of who's who.

For 18u bandits are not in any of the big tourns that your other 3 are?

 I agree for the most part about teams but the teams are basically the same as the fall. Some have already proven themselves. It's hard to ever compare them like you say because so often they don't play in comparable tournaments or games. There are some teams that get into the best year after year.

Thats why the tread was pre season picks...Although you do make very valid points, you must have an opinion on the top three teams?

Sorry to disappoint you, but just giving my opinion.  Seen them play a couple of times in the summer and saw them twice in the fall.  Seniors graduated  and  much younger team this year.  Sorry no axe to grind here.

Asking a question is grinding an axe? I'm still learning and have my opinions but can always learn more. There are different ways to look at things and I like to know what people think. It is hard to know every team and tournament and coach and player.

I think with a record like that they will gain interest quickly and get a lot of action! I feel that there is enough room for all LI teams to do well and place girls. We're doing it now so why fight it?
