I just heard that the asst. varsity position has been posted in the high school.  That leads me to believe that the head assistant jonstone isn't coming back. ANyone else hear anything?  I wanna know when they're going to post the head coaching position

Having been out of EIHS for several years now I can attest that I have heard several stories over the years from both football and baseball players (while I was in HS and after) of Sal Ciampi, Jr (and Sr.) acting way out of line. And to be clear, I don't mean out of line in the sense of yelling, cursing, or even pushing players. I mean over-the-top, physical abuse. For example, Sal Jr. clocking somebody over the head with a fungo bat. I'm not saying that the situation is necessarily true, but should it come to light that it is, I can say I certainly wouldn't be the least bit surprised. For the record this is not an attack on Ciampi, I never personally knew the man, although I felt that he did give off a certain undeserving, arrogant persona when I was around, I'd like to make it clear that I have no personal vendetta against him.

hmmmm....a kid got hit in the head by the coach with a bat...couldn't have been very hard or it would be much more than a suspension...would be an arrest.  Just doesn't add up so I'm guessing its a gross exaggeration that makes a good headline for a po'd parent...

How hard isn't the issue. The fact that he hit somebody with a bat is.  Now I have not the slightest idea how old you are but lets put it this way. If I were to walk up to your child, brother/sister, mother/father, etc... and bop them over the head with a bat, leaving, lets say, a big bump or a bruise, because I was mad at them, you're going to tell me that you wouldn't think that I deserve some sort of repercussion for that? If I had Ciampi for a history class while I was in high school and he gave me a D instead of a C because he accidently mis-graded my test and I were to walk up to him and smack him in the head with my textbook I would probably be thrown out of school. I think you need to rethink your logic.

Johnstone's not coming back to anything, he is lucky he didnt get put in jail for what he has been accused.  Sal Sr made it very clear he was coming back to coach football in Johnstone's absence before any of this came down with Sal Jr. If Sal Jr gets ousted, Sal Sr will just come back and take everything over from what I have been told.

I've been reading this and the one thing I get from it is that there is a group of EI athletes that wanted to be led by a bully.  Those people relish in the fact that their coach "doesn't take any crap" and acts like a tough guy.  Sal Sr. was the original.  He was a tremendous football player....I saw him play.  And as a coach he was able to lead young men in the 70's and 80's that came from Blue Collar, I'll kick your butt families.  Good, tough families.....but bullies.  Sal Jr. is trying to be like Dad.  Problem is he isn't dealing with Blue Collar kids, it's more divorced Moms and Dads that didn't play for a guy like Sal.  He has the potential to be better than his father and for that matter any coach....and if he gets through this and learns that the only reason why they name a field after you is if you're dead or afraid of you he may be a better man and a leader of men....not a leader of followers.

if sal jr does not return to coach...sal sr. says he wants nothing to do with east islip, and he does not want the field named after him anymore..

WELL THEN LET HIM TAKE HIS TOYS AND GO HOME !!!

SO basically senior ciampi is going to stomp his feet and throw a tantrum if he doesnt get his way, and wants his name taken off the scoreboard?  What  agreat legacy to leave for someone who is so consumed with image.  What an embarrassment he has become.

If johnstone doesnt come back, that leaves a couple of openings.  they also have a jv head they need to fill.  What happened to the other 2 new assistants from this year?  One guy didnt work in EI, and the other teaches at the Mid School.

Nice spelling.  Thay also name a field after you if you're a corrupt company or if you made a RIDICULOUS donation.  See it's not that hard to spell.  Another fine example of public edumacation.

Do you hope they fire him or do you hope he is reinstated?  Remember it's what is best for ALL the kids......especially the one's that can't fight for themselves.

fire the bum. his father was a first class bully. he ,his father, was a dirty player the worst in nassau county in 1961. he was rewarded with the thrope award. the people in east islip should be really upset that they named a field after him. recind it.
