P Vinny Caputo, Jericho

plays on the bayside yankees and threw 5 innings with 1 run and 3-3 (3 doubles) this year for jericho varsity

LI16

Good, but not the best.
Makesense

Chaminade has a freshman "Roulis" that hey are making go through the ranks.  He is sweet an switch hits.
nassaufan123

those kids are good dont get me wrong, but i seen a kid mike manning play last summer, for the long island storm, and i hear hes on varsity this year...hes going to be good

mets2424

yea, vinny caputo is doing pretty well on varsity but had a terrible game last week pitching...still impressive at the plate too though
hsbaseballscout3810

yea caputo from Jericho is def good idk about the best though.
joeplobes1

their are alot of good freshman out their. and its hard to say who the best is, caputo and manning are both good players, as ive heard....but i really wonder who the best all around freshman is?
wmc035

the shortstop for brentwood is pretty good to throse probably 80 in 9th grade
baseballscout123

i think most of the freshman on a varsity baseball team throw about 80mph..or high 70's...how hard do the kids caputo, and manning throw if someone already commented on the brentwood ss throwing about 80? sence people are bringing names up

Demeo, Carey.  still on JV but excellent command of his pitches.
MCD11

Hey Guzman didnt you learn your lesson on the Boys of Summer site by posting your kids name on there all the time? I hope for his sake the people on here are more civil than the folks on the BOS guestbook.

I'm not the dad but I do know who he is. I didn't know he was a tout for his kid.  I've seen that whole group play since they were 11 or 12 with the brentwood chiefs.  I was shocked when I heard that they folded before the u14 season last year.  I was always curious what happened to the other guys on that team. I thought that guzman would have ended up at St. Johns or something.  There is another guy named Torres who is on St Johns JV.  They had a really fast lefty who I think is from Syosset. I don't know what happened to him.  They also had a guy who played second base since his Williamsport days who played without his right hand. good kid. I hope he made their JV. One of their pitchers was cut as a freshman from another school district.

I guess you answered the question for me. It is him.  I gotta check out that BOS guestbook.

Calhoun prob has the best freshman catcher, a guy whose last name is Thomas.

that whole area, Calhoun, Bellmore JFK is loaded with hitters at the 9th grade and 8th grade level.  Take your pick of hitters.

Bring-The-Heat

Calhoun HS, catcher Thomas

Bellmore JFK, Leopold

that whole area is stacked with talent. Take your pick.

The 2 biggest touts on here and on BOS are Guzzman and Stroman, even though sometimes it's obviously Stroman himself posting. Stroman doesnt need to be touted by I guess when you are the best you can blow your horn a little. Guzzman is good but has in no way proved himself yet the way Stroman has and he will never be the player Stroman is.

Top Freshman? Look no further then Steve Skon of Lindenhurst. He is batting over 500 in League 1...He has hit 3 Hr`s .... and he has 7 multiple hit games, per Newsday yesterday.

steve or Kenny skon?

same kid who plays football?

baseball232

It's Steve Skon, he 's a 9th grader. He does play football also, QB i believe- I think he filled in on the varsity team when the starting QB got hurt this year. He does have a younger brother, his name may be Kenny(i'm not sure).  For a 9th grader to be hitting over .500 in League 1, with power- that's impressive to me.
