If they played in different tournaments maybe course difficulty level would have something to do with the score discrepensy. I know Stucklen and Rosenhouse both play in the same tourn (LI open Qualifier), how about listing the other tourn location along with each score.

He hasn't been playing as well as he played last year, still a great player, but he was much stronger last year. My vote is for Rosenhouse or Stucklen for individual champion. And the team championship is between probably sayville and sachem east, with sayville having the upper edge with the top 3 and sachem east with the bottom 3.

How can they hold a county championship there? The super should be fired. They airated the greens six weeks ago and they still stink. Putts will be very difficult to make. It's anyones tournament when you play a course as crappy as that. Golfers who belong to country clubs with fast good greens will have a hard time adjusting. Having a county tourney on that course shows you how little anyone cares about Long Island high school golf. No wonder Jim Lui, one of the best junior golfers in the world, from Smithtown doesn't even play high school golf. Playing a course as poorly conditioned as Indian Island messes with your confidence and alters your putting stroke.
| Thegolfer21Posts: 17Location: Join Date: April 10, 2008 8:24 AMSend Message | agreed that course is a joke. it is in absolutely terrible condition. out of every course in suffolk county the kids have to play that junk. the winner is going to be the one who his it closest to the hole because there arent many chances to salvage any long putts. Also don't go too far and call Jim Liu one of the best juniors in the world. He's still young and anything can happen. and you are right counties really doesnt mean anything for the good golfers. colleges dont look at high school golf up north at all when scouting. | |

The administrators of high school golf don't take the job serious enough or they would find courses that allow for the potential to score. Did you play last years event? Was the course in better shape then its in now? I can't see anyone shooting a real good score with the greens the way they are now. As for Jim Lui, I've seen his excellence first hand. He is the best putter I have ever seen, child or adult. He's twelve years old winning IJGT events against 18 year olds and even shot 59 when he was 9 years old in a PJGT event. A real phenom. His father's smart not having him play this piece of garbage course, it can only hurt his confidence and force him to change his stroke.

| bigdaddy11199Posts: 11Location: Join Date: May 18, 2008 10:44 AMSend Message | No dude you listen. You're wrong. Putting on greens as bad as those will do damage to your stroke. Temporarily, yes but putting is all about confidence and consistency. Some might bounce back and get it back quickly, others might have a hard time seeing the ball go in the hole fro a while after seeing them bounce off line for 36 straight holes. You're also wrong about the best player winning. Course conditions are relevant when determining the best golfer. Why do you think they play the NY State Open on Bethpage Black and not at Bergen Point? On line putts might not go in and off line putts might. As for Lui, I can't tell you why he doesn't play HS golf and it probably is that his schedule is demanding nationally, but he's doing himself a favor not showing up to that dog track. | |

| bigdaddy11199Posts: 11Location: Join Date: May 18, 2008 10:44 AMSend Message | I've played in every golf championship in the Met Area and never have the greens been in poor condition. The Black may have greens rolling 9 now but you can bet they'll be 11 or 12 by mid July. I've never been a CC guy but every, and I mean every tournament of prominence in the area is on a course with fast, smooth, sloping greens. To say the greens aren't that bad at Island Hills means you've never played on good greens and if ever you try to play in prominent events in the future, you'll likely have a terrible time adjusting. I played Island Hills also and those greens absolutely sucked. I hit a chip and the ball landed on an airation hole and jumped five feet offline. You'll probably do OK if you're use to those kind of greens and you have a feel for hitting your putts hard. Good luck. | |

Hwang and Rosenhouse in the final group should be a great duel. As for the teams Haup and Hills East are leading it so far. | |
