Brian Hwang 153 6. Brandon Meltzer ? 153 6. ? Anybody know the last two for sure ? Something has to be done about the all-county top 20 situation. Kyle Stucklen missed the cut because he shot a 82 the first day but follows up with a 72 and can't make all-county because he didn't make the cut. This is dog crap because you can miss the individual cut by one but play on day two because your team but beat out half the kids that make all county. Because Indian Island is such an easy course you can potentially make it to states but you wouldn't be able to play just because you get penalized for having a bad day. Something needs to be done, maybe widen the individual cut to low 40 and ties after day one.

Kyle Stucklin- The most over rated golfer in suffolk county history! a product of his coaches hype. you should have seen him sucking up to newsday. it was gross.

| Thegolfer21Posts: 17Location: Join Date: April 10, 2008 8:24 AMSend Message | hold on buddy i dont know how you can say kyle stucklen is overrated. golfers have bad days. its the way the sport goes. and if he had made the cut he would have finished tied for tenth because he shot 72 the second day. so i dont think thats right of you to call out kyle like that especially for coming back strong the second day. hes still one of the best golfers in the county no matter what the results of counties may have shown. the person who is overrated is brian hwang. he folded under the pressure. he was 2 shots back going into the last day and completely fell apart the second day. he started hitting incredibly weak shots that just werent the consistency and trajectory of a great player. hwang was expected to win and was looked so highly upon before the tournament started and he struggled to even make states. its rediculous how much praise hwang got. he won counties last year so everyone automatically assumes hes the greatest thing since sliced bread. the "best player" shouldnt be shooting in the 80's when the tournaments on the line. | |

| LIgolfer12Posts: 5Location: Join Date: May 17, 2008 7:02 AMSend Message | kyle stucklen overrated? are you kidding me. yea he definitely deserves that title especially having the second low round of the tournament and the lowest on the second day. and i totally agree hwang is completely overrated. does everybody remember last year when hwang shot 66 the first day. he followed it up with a 77 and almost lost to cerabone from commack. he's not a clutch player and to play that much worse on the second day of a tournament, deserves the title of overrated. buffdaddy: No, there is no place to find the scores, newsday doesn't care about high school golf as you can see they only cover the county championships and then LI championship. They didn't even post a list of the full all-state team roster. the people on here are the only people who care about high school golf. | |
| golfman500Posts: 4Location: Join Date: April 20, 2008 6:33 PMSend Message | kyle had no pressure the 2nd day at countys. he didnt even make the cut so he had nothing to worry about. hwang never plays well the 2nd day at countys. last year he shot 77 and this year 81. his other tournaments though we can see he finishes ok the 2nd and 3rd day. Is there cuts at states? and is states a team thing or individual or both? i dont believe hwang is very overrated though. he has talent but this year he hasnt proven much. looking at his scores, he has been struggling. Just like Tim pawul last year in his senior year with robert cerabone. Im very surprised lou caro made it. I bet hes been playing solid lately. Any picks on states? | |
| bigdaddy11199Posts: 11Location: Join Date: May 18, 2008 10:44 AMSend Message | Thanks for the info LI GOlfer. i am trying to get the names and scores because i want to have them listd in the next Long Island Golfer magazine. is there an administrator to contact or something? Also, it seems noone cares about high school golf, not even the guys who administer it. I can't believe there is not a Suffolk High School Athletics site or even a Suffolk High School Golf site that can post the scores. Come on administrators, take your job seriously and push for some more notoriety for these golfers. | |
| LIgolfer12Posts: 5Location: Join Date: May 17, 2008 7:02 AMSend Message | big daddy: there is an administrator's site it's, SCGCA.org, i believe except they never update it and the coaches or administrators don't post the scores, like you and i both said nobody cares about high school golf, teh only way you could have known of the scores is if you were at counties yourself, like i was, and saw the scores come in. golferman: yes states is both individual and team, as a team suffolk is a joke this year, they are nowhere as close to as talented as they were last year replacing players like cerabone, pawul, blomberg, stucklen, and etimos with players such as caro, pepi, perkins, deMaio, and rosenhouse. i'll take those 5 from last year over the 5 from this year anyday anywhere. Demaio and furci have been at states as sophmores, and i believe both are very underrated players, deMaio is very solid from tee to green but stands out with the putter. For the individual's at states hwang finished 10th in the state last year i believe but i don't think he has the potential to do that again. i think deMaio and furci will be the low scores for the suffolk team this year. | |
| bigdaddy11199Posts: 11Location: Join Date: May 18, 2008 10:44 AMSend Message | LI Golfer 12, I heard a rumor this morning from two seperate people who were at the counties at Indian Island the first day and they said that kids who shot 82 actually should have made the cut since there were only 28 players who shot 81 or better. That the administrators decided not to include the 82's even though they were within the 30 and ties because the field would have been larger the next day and it was easier to handle at 28 instead of, say 38. Anyone else here this? | |
| Thegolfer21Posts: 17Location: Join Date: April 10, 2008 8:24 AMSend Message | i agree that the suffolk team is a little weaker than last years but i do believe perkins and rosenhouse are far better replacements for kids like blomberg and etimos. we will of course see what happens but i disagree that demaio will be second low. while he does hit the ball a decently long way, i just dont think he has the accuracy or consistency to contend like that. keep in mind cornell is fairly narrow and short. the players who hit the ball straighter like rosenhouse, perkins and furci will come out on top. | |
