Hills and Smithtowns are always powerhouses but Im saying watch out for Whitman this year they have a returning team and a dominant middle/setter combo. You'll see them

That could be a good thing since you guys can sneak on everybody. Top teams have to be SmithEast with almost everybody back, Lindy also with everybody back, and of course HHH since they play club together all year round. I am sure besides Whitman there will be another darkhorse ready to surprise people, my pick? Northport and East Hampton

Northport and East Hampton Smithtown is good but they dont play defense they just have a big offense, Hills should be a problem again. But ur blowin smoke when u say that Lindy is going to be good they werent good at all last year. As for Northport, McLean can't play this year.... therefore they have absolutely NO chance he was their whole team. and I didnt think that East Hampton was too impressive they were very sloppy and played zero defense. I do agree with the Whitman call though I heard they only graduated like two or three kids. I really think they have a good shot this year they have a solid middle offense they run a plethora of plays from there and the bigger one hits the ball very hard. And if im not mistaken they have a returning outside who hits spots well. they have as good a shot as any other low seeded team to upset people and go to the playoffs, it all depends on what kind of schedule they get this year, just like all the others.

They play excellent backrow defense and even though they graduated their Libero they should not skip a beat. Northport returns their outsides and I think their setter which is akk you really need in hs vb. Lindy returns their setter, that blond haired outside/rightside that can bang, and their huge middle. Teams we did not mention are SmithWest that has a good outside and Sachem North who has a a really good setter and brings back their middle and an outside. Suffolk is missing their superstars like they had in the past like a Norman Kiel and Tomas Bocchio (sp?) but the talent across the county is so much better.
| Bangin10lineyadiggPosts: Location: Join Date: April 10, 2008 9:37 PMSend Message | This past season played some of their best games against the big teams in the county. They gave Happauge one of only 6 individual game loses across the season, they went 4 with both the smithtowns and and sachems, even tho one of the games they played against sachem east was a fan showing for whitman nearly holding them to single digits. However they evened out by playing medeocre at best against some of the weaker teams like lindy, ESM, and the hamptons. The only team that blew them away was hills. And in the Smithtown West invitational they had a huge upset over sachem east only to put them in the next round against north who beat them only because of a few timely missed serves. Whitman will without a doubt dominate theyre season and go deep into the playoffs. Takes notes. | |

| ToO_FiLTHyPosts: 13Location: Join Date: May 2, 2008 6:45 PMSend Message | He is indeed the coach at NYU, but you are forgetting that Mens Volleyball for NYU is played in the Winter, so my guess is that he will still be there for most of the season if not all of it. | |

I agree with 10line. Whitman is returning almost all of there players, and their going to be seeded lower this year, which means they have a chance. They will still play good teams, but wont play all of the same (dont know for a fact, havent looked at their schedule yet). But i think Whitman does have a chance in the 5 spot, if not definitely the 6th.
| Outsidehitter56Posts: 19Location: Join Date: May 6, 2008 2:08 PMSend Message | You all make excellent points but allow me to give you some inside information. Bay Shore has lost their varsity coach, so their JV coach is moving up this year. Expect some new things out of them. West Hampton does have Christian setting again this year, and while he should produce a playoff run I expect it will be a situation similar to Huntington/Harborfields last year, best setter on Long Island with almost no weapons. Smithtown East will be is returning the bulk of their roster, but some key members have been inactive in the offseason so expect a slow start. Lindy does have a returning setter, Falcone down the middle and Jablonski on the right side, but Outside? Northport is essentially dead in the water. Both Sachem's have a chance to make runs every year as they usually are only one tool away from a dominant year, the question is which team will make the big run this year. Hills, as always, is going to be in the final four. They always return a solid roster as their pipeline is solid, and new talent is in the system for so many years that they will contend as long as Barini is still coaching. Commack varsity will surprise as they had a strong JV team, but they will be young this year and they will falter at important times, they'll make the playoffs, but their time is two or three years away. I think you are all forgetting that Ward Melville was a final four team, and is returning the two most important positions in high school ball, outside and setter. They are a low rank (8) but that measdn they'll see easy games for most of the season. All in all this year should be an amazing one as some teams have a chance to make runs that most will not expect, and the fian lfour should be strong. Best match of the regular season- Ward Melville at Smithtown East on 10/29/08. Last game of the season for both, Smithtown will have senior night, and they'll probably be playing for a first round buy. Expect playoff caliber ball here. Final four predictions- (1) Hills v. (4) Ward Melville. (2) Smithown East v. (3) Lindy. | |

All i want to say is that Lindy isn't Just me(Jablonski) and Falcone. We're gonna have a good team all around. And please don't make any predictions for the final 4 cuze there is more than 8 teams that are going to be very good this year. All i know is that I'll make sure that we will be in the finals ;P Good luck to everyone, ur gonna need it ! P.s. Can someone post the preseason rankings. ??
