Bellmore gave a good run against Beach proving really to be the second best team, but Beach had outstanding defense and truly overpowered. Beach should win convincingly in the finals but good luck to Port anyway. Port played by far there best game against a solid Plainview team showing they should be in the finals.

If Bellmore is the second best team in the county (Syosset lost to them 29-27,27-25,25-22 in the quarterfinals) and lost to port in 5 both times they played this season, I'd say that they're a bit better than what's been posted this year!!!!

Agreed, Syosset was the most improved team in Nassau this year. Bellmore was also much improved but ran into a very tough draw with a #4 seed playing Long Beach in the Semifinals. Watch out for Port Washington in the finals though. Port showed what a good setter and two 6-7 Middles can accomplish if the opposing team does not make Ball control an issue. Plainview JFK missed a lot of serves and did not pass well on serve receive. Port took control of the net and the match. Long Beach still looks like they have the edge in experience and talent. Look for a close match in the A's as well. Roslyn is loaded with talented players but Jericho has a solid Rotation that can hang with any team.

Long Beach went through Port like a Buzzsaw in the final and would have done it to anyone they played. 19-0, two tournament victories, and a Nassau Championship. This was their year and nobody could touch them. Public or Private.

Not only was it probably the greatest high school volleyball game ever played in Nassau County. I would challenge someone to find a better sporting event (incorporating magnitude, rivalry, fan intensity, and a comeback from each team) that has occured in high school sports on Long Island that was better than what took place yesterday.

And neither team won any of the five games on errors, only strong team execution and grit. That was a classic Old champs came back against underdog trying to win 1st title in 17 years, and best match of volleyball I've seen in 6 years of watching.

Not even sure they the girls play it too. too busy posting equestrian and fencing blogs |
