BELLPORT – Sunday July 27 – 7:00
Caroline Doctorow headlines the new monthly Bellport Songwriter Series at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.  A fixture on Long Island’s East End music scene for more than two decades, Caroline is the daughter of world-renowned author E. L. Doctorow (Ragtime, Billy Bathgate, The March), who introduced her to Joan Baez when she was young.  Through five albums that seamlessly mix originals and covers, Doctorow has grown immeasurably as a performer and as a songwriter. Her voice has been described as "part Emmylou Harris, part Victoria Williams". Her style of contemporary folk blends bluegrass, traditional country, pop, rockabilly, and even some jazz to create a compelling sound.
Also appearing in acoustic performances are Patchogue Singer-Songwriter Jay Scott, who released his first album Homegrown in June after a live recording at the Patchogue Theatre; and The Casuist, the solo project of Graham Capobianco, a Patchogue High School graduate and former member of the UUFB who is lead singer of Drama For The Masses, a Pop/Rock Quintet from Long Island whose new EP is titled Sink Or Swim.

PRESS RELEASE

LONG ISLAND NATIVES RETURN Long Island natives Emma Zale and Tony Novarro are not only returning back to Long Island, but are also embracing their melodic rock roots once again, this time around with new material written by songstress Emma.   Her colorful musical travels have taken Emma to all corners of the globe, as a singer/songwriter in Sydney, Australia where she also worked on policy development for the Aborigines Movement at PIAC (Public Interest Advocacy Center), as a madrigal singer throughout Europe for several years, later with numerous appearances on national television (and especially as a regular on The Joe Franklin Television Show on WWOR-TV for many years), as an artist on Vagabond Records produced by Frank Carillo, as keyboardist for the metal band “The Rods” and “Jack Starr”, as a jingle writer for John Sander’s Productions, and most recently as a  songwriter for several country and pop artists.  Emma’s music has touched the lives of many, starting with her concerts as a classical pianist winning the Merle Howard Memorial Prize For Piano Performance after attending Manhattan School of Music.  Ms. Zale founded the I.W.O. (International Women’s Organization For The Preservation of Live Music) (not a feminist group) which was instrumental in getting numerous artists international recognition, music seminar workshops, and networking opportunities within their fields.  Taking this a step further, Emma became an associate professor at Five Towns College, teaching music publishing and copyright law to fellow Long Islanders, while consistently being voted by readers of Good Times Magazine to the Favorite Female Rock Vocalist Category for several years. Fueled by her music entertainment attorney friends’ energy, Emma obtained a law degree and is currently practicing law in New York and New Jersey.  Emma represents singing sensation Angela Hall, who is taking the Christian/Gospel Rock music world by storm. Emma Zale and Guitarist Tony Novarro are currently recording a new CD release, available this winter.  Along with bassist Mary Noecker and drummer Don Gerbino, the group will be performing a taste of their new material, along with some past favorites, at Mirelle’s, 170 Post Avenue, Westbury, NY 11590 on Friday, September 12th at 9 p.m.  (516) 404-6490.  Singer/Songwriter Mike D’Amico will open at 8 p.m. For more info, please contact:  Website link Emma Zale: myfathersplace.us/spotlite.html                                                  Website link I.W.O.: myfathersplace.us/iwo.html                                                   (516) 303-2272“Emma’s voice is a sardonic siren’s song.  Tony and Emma bring to mind a youthful Buckingham and Nicks.  Their raw power and nimble stage prowess are readily evident.”                                                                                   -  V. J. Calone   Long Island Entertainment“Emma’s journey and insight into the dual sides of human nature are not only evident in her new music, but also in the way she inspires others to achieve their full potential in life. . . a riveting act.”                                                                                            -   Joe Franklin, Aug. 2008
