Brentwood only allowed 2 goals so far this season. Brentwood has to take out there starters before half time so they are not criticized for running up the score. So for LIBLAZA whats going on in Suffolk County Boys Soccer that the board doesn't mention is that no team can match up with Brentwood.

For the playoffs, I would loove to see a game plyed by the teams and not decided by the officials.

As far as espn rankings, I heard from people I know at St. Anthony's that they invited BW to play a few weeks ago and your coach turned them down. So don't give me this "no one wants to take us on" thing.
| centraljetPosts: 7Location: Join Date: October 16, 2008 1:57 PMSend Message | Maybe St Anthony's can beat BW, but St. Anthony's gets its players from all over LI. Whereas, BW gets its players from BW. Also, about St. A playing BW and was turned down, you heard thats the problem, you heard. I will findout for myself if thats true, and not from rumors or info that was spread by St.A. BW could end up like the Patriots, going undefeated and losing in the big game or where it matters in the playoffs. All it takes is 1 bad game. | |
| jsca5722Posts: 2Location: Join Date: September 19, 2008 2:13 PMSend Message | bbislife41 Typical of my point no respect unless followed by "buts", innuendo and rumor, you just can't seem to just call a fact a fact. With regards to the Patriots, just like the Chaminades, St. Anthony's, etc. those were teams created to win via recruitment, and planning, not by just plain hard work and using the resources available. No dis respect to them, but BW had to do it with those players at hand, not hand-picked. 75 is still 75, it takes more then luck or miracles when playing a tough schedule made out by the leagues, and not by self-interested coaches or administrators. One day at the top of the nations rankings is sufficient answer to you, rather then one game being the proof of the pudding. | |

| danbouza1956Posts: 5Location: Join Date: October 31, 2008 8:57 PMSend Message | I see a lot of people still don't have respect for Brenwood Soccer. See some people feel they don't deserve their high ranking. I see some excuses that the private schools teams are basicly hand picked. It still comes down to who wants it the most and now it is play off time maybe this year the ball won't hit the post maybe off sides won't be called because there wasn't any if Brentwood comes out on top this year nobody should disrepect this team. And another thing maybe this got lost when St. Anthony's moved to South Huntington.....In 1973 St A had a 56 game unbeatin Streak and was nationally ranked led by Danny McCrudden it was an unherald Brentwood Ross team that dominated then 4-1 So much for a hand picked team. | |

Even though it's impressive, the best teams win when it matters most.

I grew up playing with brentwood soccer and all they do is eat sleep and play soccer. If it is light out and you go to the park i would bet a million dollars they are playing soccer.
| juauuPosts: 4Location: Join Date: September 15, 2008 9:32 PMSend Message | Yeah Brentwood's good. I'd be lying if I said they weren't. But look who they're playing against. Public Schools. And Brentwood has about 1000 more kids than any other school. They are ranked #8 in the nation....NOT #1...for all you ppl tht think theyre 1. newsday doesnt know wht theyre talking about. I want to see brentwood play Saint Anthony's. The boys from brentwood would get workeddd. game would be like 3-1. they wouldnt stand a chance. so for everyone tht thinks bwood is an LI powerhouse. let them step on st anthonys turf and watch them get desroyed. st ants is the best team in the state ...and 2nd best in the nation. pshhhhh brentwood...what a joke go play a team with real talent and youll see. maybe you can play on a field where theres actually grass too. you know not all dirt. losers. | |

The eaasiest way to build yourself up is to knock someone down. St. A had a great season and ESPN Rise recognized them as #3, which is nothing o sneeze at. Same organization said BW is #1, the difference is negligible, and I would certainly watch a match between them, fortunately for St. A, they likely have real pride, and not that false bravado that your note is filled with. Good thing that they seem to have more class then you do, grow up and just enjoy the sport!

| BrentwoodAlumniPosts: 7Location: Join Date: November 9, 2008 7:44 PMSend Message | wow, i cant believe this is coming from a private school that recruits all over the country. the only players that brentwood have are all home grown. Brentwood would destroy St Anthony, thats the reason why St John The Baptist stopped playing Brentwood, Because Brentwood would always win, get your facts straight and go tell this to someone that cares. we dont wanna hear anybody talking smack on Brentwood. | |

Brentwood is disciplined and they do not play for themselves. If you watched every game like I have, you would see they play alot of touch and go, and alot of 4 to 5 quick passes on a few touches.
| RyansFatherPosts: 1Location: Join Date: November 14, 2008 11:27 AMSend Message | All this talk about whether or not Brentwood could beat St. Anthony's is never going to get anywhere. I played at Brentwood, on the only team so far to win a state title (1989 Co-State Champs). There are definite differences in private and public schools but saying that St. Anthony's is better based on the fact that they are private is a bunch of BS. Private schools, recruit and draw from a larger pool than any other school, even a school the size of Brentwood. I can remember when I played that St. John's (they were the dominant private school team then) had players from Bay Shore, Brentwood, West Islip, North Babylon and Huntington (these are players I remember from club ball) and several other districts. One way I could use to compare them is the Empire State tryouts. There were 18 players that played for Suffolk in the Nassau-Suffolk game that determined theLong Island team and of those 18 players 5 were from Brentwood and I think there were 2 or 3 from St. John's. So being a private school does not necessarily make them a better team with better players. It's unfortunate that there is not a Federation tournament for soccer like they have in basketball with all four champions. | |

As I feel that I'm a fan of soccer ( I was a player for BW, in the 60's), I go to the games because I like to watch good teams play, not to have a 2nd hand thrill at rooting for the "right" or winning team. My statements don't mean that the St. A's team doesn't play well, but to address the balogney of fans who talk trash in order to boost their teams. I admit to pride as a BW alumni, and love the idea that with all the adversity and the negative stuff that BW HS, gets smeared with, that we have such love and support for the kids who have worked and dedicated themselves to a common goal and a largely immigrant community has produced them. I want to add Kudos to Coach Eden, who has taken a group of young men and done such a fine job. He's created a widely recognized system that others are trying to emulate and inspired others to raise the standard of soccer on the island. As I alluded to the fan who called me a dreamer, well thanks, ithout dreams where would we get our inspiration from? As for the BW Indians, I hope that I'm joined by the other Long Island soccer fans in supporting BW as a great representative for Island soccer. |
