Rumor had it that the top rated team in Nassau was supposed to be scrimmaging the top rated team in Suffolk this past weekend- any reports on how the teams looked- smart idea to get ready for playoffs- too bad these two teams don't play during the season or in post-season

I'm inclined to say WM beats GC. BUT that's just a stupid uneducated observation - I've seen WM very often, but have only seen GC once, last year at SBU.

I heard the scrimmage ended 1-1 with Garden City having the much better of the play early and Melville coming on at the end. Two excellent teams. From the looks of things the scrimmage helped them both as they came out roaring with 6-1 and 7-0 victories in first round of playoffs. Garden City should win LI Championship again but Melville will be tested by Sachem East or Smithtown East in Suffolk Final. Suffolk winner will probably beat Nassau A winner, but you never know

Scrimmage was not the best. GC arrived late, played their starters for maybe 15 minutes, during which time they dominated, though W-M played game defense. GC played most of the scrimmage with their bench. I would have wanted a get ready for playoff scrimmage against starters, better for W-M, not a preseason get reserves some experience scrimmage, better for next year's GC, unless the GC coach's plan was to not show too much to spying eyes, or to get goalie, who looked good, some time under fire. Or unless she didn't want anybody to get hurt. A W-M starter got injured. W- M starters took forever to score against GC bench. Then there was ten minutes of 7 v 7. GC 7 looked rusty. W-M drew 2 corners. Then maybe a dozen strokes, where GC strokers looked good.
