THIS TEAM DOESN'T HAVE IT

OK, we are Met fans,Alot of questions on how we improve this team. Tough questions these days and times, not easy to make deals. You want Holiday? He'll cost 120m or better next year. How many 100 m players can we have ?You want Peavy or Holiday ? We are talkin alot of $$$.I look back at all the talent we gave away.......Nolan Ryan, Hubby Brooks, Rich Aqularier, Kenny Singleton, Jason Bay, Jeff Reardon, Amos Otis, Kevin Mitchell, Tom Seaver , Jerry Koosman, after there days were numbered on this team, or , you think Tom and Koos should have been dealt?Heath Bell, Bannister, Melvin Mora, Jay Payton, I'm missing some people here, I did a decent job, but there are more.Had we kept them, would we have been a better team? Trades ! Usually bad ones.I say now we quit on this present Met team, in terms of expecting a WS. I say, bring up the kids, NOW, lets see what we got.Go Mets, bring them up. I'd rather see a bunch of kids try, then see this team, a good one , fold so badly, AGAIN !

I totally agree that this team sucks!!!!! But we have to stop putting the blame on the wrong people. The blame for LEADERSHIP has to go to the manager. He has done nothing with this team to get them to play together as a team. How do you explain the fact that the Marlins have a payroll valued at 25% of the Mets payroll and continuously produce competitive teams. They hire managers that relate to the ballplayers and act as leaders. The last time the Mets had a manager that was a leader was when Bobby Valenine was sitting in the dugout.

I know we have been spoiled a couple of years with superstars and powerhitters and now we are stuck with a triple A team that seems to be heading in the wrong direction. Guys we have to see if this team can actually stick together for the 16 games that can make or break them. I don't see this team as a selling but a buyer more this year due to Omar wants to look good. I think the Mets should make some moves but remember guys i think this team has to go back to traditional ball and hit and steal instead of homeruns. This is a team now that we have to read about until some of our stars come off the DL. I rather see this guys play than what we had at the beginning of the year. The Mets should look at a couple of pitchers from cleveland and maybe make a trade from that team due to that they are already out of the race. I would go after David Huff due to he is 5 and 5 but he still has a great arm and is young and we don't have to give up the farm. Let me know what other pitchers we would get this week and next week we talk about hitters.

Hey Afan,I totally agree. My point is college or high school payers in this game know that they may spend years in ML ball before they get the call. I'm not totally opposed to this idea, but more recently, the Mets called up Murphy, from Double A !Some players choose football or basketball over baseball because of the ML thing. The daniel Murphy thing, from double A, that's a change. That's a change, and that's a change that should occur more offen.I'm kinda tired of waiting for a promising player to develop over A, AA or triple A anymore. Shouldn't we know if a kid has talent or not after a year, or possibly 2 ? In the 60's , they brought up kids.In my mind , somethings wrong in evaluating young talent these days.Go Mets, bring up those kids !

Well, it just might be happening as yu propse it. Consider Matthew Cerrone's, from metsblog.com, assessment: "Prior today’s game, Jerry Manuel specifically mentioned Alex Cora and David Wright, saying both would need to continue to step up and lead this team in the absence of Carlos Beltran, who was put on the 15–day disabled list this afternoon."Cora was 2 for 4 with two RBI and a walk, hitting leadoff during tonight’s win against the Cardinals."Cora, speaking to reporters following tonight’s game, said:“'It takes more than five superstars to win a World Series. Tonight was a total team effort. Stokes comes in, in that situation, and gets the best hitter in baseball to hit in to a double play. That’s what it’s going to take, you know. Fernando Martinez gets on a plane, shows up in the seventh, and gets a bunt down… Murphy hits a home run. You know, it’s a total team effort. If you’re gonna talk about team wins, tonight was a great example and that’s what we need to do.'"…i like this message… i’m a sucker for the underdog, so i find i am extra excited to root for this current group of players, knowing they’re looked at as being down and out, with reporters and other fans making fun of them… this is a different kind of a challenge, and i’m glad a guy like cora is around to help lead the fight." Has the core, after three failed attempts and two September collapses, fallen out of favor? Well, it appears as though fresh blood is bringing in leadership and a sense of team direction!
