BIG series

Just one game out, and three games on the road against the first place Phillies. Need to win at least one, but it sure would be good to take two out of three, and be tied for first (depending on what the Marlins do at home against a depleted Pirates squad) with another first place team (Dodgers) coming to town. GO METS; beat Philthadelphia.

Believe me, I totally understand your frustration. I did not see the passion in this 3 game series as well. I have been one of the biggest supporters for the Mets and I will continue to do so. However; I am losing patience with them, despite their injuries, that doesn't excuse them from showing passion and urgency in these games. Forget about Holiday, he's not becoming a Met. I would not trade for him for just 2 months (rental), while giving up 3 top prospects in return(fill a need, minimize lost). I have mentioned this in previous comments, Ryan Garko from the Indians could be available and would not cost the Mets a top prospect. He makes only $446k this season and is in the last year of his contract. Omar will try to improve this team (within reason) without giving away any of the blue chips. According to ESPN Peter Gammon's, the Mets have 5 to 6 blue chips and along with Gammons, I wouldn't trade any of them either. So don't expect any big major trades or moves by the Mets, Omar will wait for his players to heal and perhaps look to fill in the cracks. Not that I'm giving up on this season but consider this possibility, in the offseason, Xavier Nady will be a FA, with his injuries; he will most likely be a Type B FA (which means supplemental draft pick through the Major league) It wouldn't cost the Mets any draft picks. Now this suggestion would be based on a clean bill of health on Nady. This is only one suggestions of many possibilities, but if healthy, Nady would be a great fit in RF or perhaps 1st base (if Murphy is not the answer).

WHO REALLY BELIEVED THAT THE METS COULD HAVE WON THIS SERIES LET ALONE WIN A GAME? THEY MIND AS WELL NOT HAVE SHOWN UP AND JUST FORFEITED THE THREE GAMES. SAD SAD STATE OF AFFAIRS. EVERYBODY IS AT BLAME FROM FREDDIE "COUPON" DOWN TO OMAR "MINAYA THE LIAR" THIS ORGANIZATION IS A JOKE WHEN IT COMES TO HANDLING ADVERSITY. THE SCOUTING AND COACHING ARE NON EXISTENT. THE ATTITUDE IS NOT THERE. NO PASSION FOR THE GAME AND WILL TO WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP. JUST COLLECT PAYCHECKS AND WORRY ABOUT PERSONAL NUMBERS. THE NOVELTY OF THE NEW STADIUM HAS WORN OFF AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED. NEW BALLPARK, SAME TEAM, SAME RESULTS, PRICELESS. FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT HAVE SEASON TICKETS AND HAVE PAID TO WATCH THIS CIRCUS, I FEEL SORRY FOR YOU HAVING TO PUT UP WITH THIS PRODUCT ON THE FIELD. IT IS PRETTY SAD THAT YOU HAVE YOUR ACE ON THE MOUND ONCE AGAIN AND DON'T BELIEVE YOU CAN WIN THE GAME. THE METS ARE DONE ONCE THEY GET DOWN 2-3 RUNS.

I know we keep hearing we are not going to trade the Farm System or anyone due to the injuries on this team. Omar keeps saying we are getting back the players after the all-star break and we will compete again. How does this "dumb" GM knows that we will be getting back the same player that was on the DL. I don't see Delgado coming back with power or even stepping on the same field with that injury. I still like Murphy as our 1st baseman due to that he still tries and can still be a competitor. We do need a good bat but we all know we have to give up something to get something good in return. I would not go after Dunn or any older players for one year would be a waste. We need to see whats is out there and can we get a good bargain on this person.

Just wasted 3 hours of my life watching the Mets lose to the Phillies. Only 6 hits(all singles, 3 by Cora), only 1 run (batted in by the pitcher Nieve), poor defense in the 8th by Wright and Santos. As stated many times on this board, I have been very positive of this team, although I still am; I sensed no urgency from this team thus far in this series. I believe Santana is pitching Sunday and he needs to show up. I know he can't do it alone, he needs the players to support him with runs. In the last two games, the Phillies have scored in the 1st inning. The Mets need to make that same statement on Sunday and score not only first, but in the 1st inning. Not sure who is pitching for the Phillies, if it's Hamel; the Mets need to take advantage of his inconsistency this season and jump on him promptly in the 1st inning. This season is far from over based on this series, but the Mets need to make some kind of statement here.

This was a horrible lost for the Mets. We all knew the importance of winning the first game of this vital 3 game series. Winning 2 out of 3 was a must, now the Mets not only need to win the next 2, but have to win the next 2. Taking 2 out of 3 will accomplish several things: 1) Obviously, puts the Mets into a tie with the Phillies 2) Gives the Mets a confidence booster for the remainings games, not only between each other; but with the rest of the league. 3) Puts concerns into Phillies head that a depleted Mets team took 2 out of 3 games on their home field. 4) In a few weeks, the team will get alot healthier and with 81 games remaining, can make a push. Now if the Mets should get swept by the Phillies, it doesn't mean that their season is over. It wouldn't be a good sign and or indication of this teams objective and urgency. This division was once a two team race, unfortunately, due to the problems of both the Phillies and Mets, the Marlins and Braves have been invited back to the party. these four teams will beat up on each other the rest of the way and the team that comes out and wins the NL east division, will be the team that executes and plays sound fundemental baseball. This has been a problem for the Mets thus far, hopefully once they get all their key players back, this problem will not be an issue. Stability and depth will be in place and it all boils down to which team will have the better 2nd half of the season.

Livan...three runs in the first, and it could have been a heck of a lot worse. Thankfully, Bako K'd and Lopez hit a soft ground with the BASES LOADED. Down 3-0....crap. Come on Mets; beat up the slob that hasn't pitched in the majors for two years.

ABSOLUTELY CORRECT HERE. A STATEMENT SHOULD BE MADE TONITE WITH AN EDGE HAVING TO GO WITH LIVIAN. I AGREE THAT FLORIDA HAS TOO MANY HOLES TO FIX BUT ATLANTA MIGHT BE A CONTENDER HERE.I HOPE THAT THESE METS PLASTER ALL OF THE COLE HAMMELS AND JIMMY ROLLINS QUOTES ON THEIR LOCKERS. TIME TO GET MENTALLY TOUGH. THIS SERIES SHOULD BE PAYBACK TIME. 2 OF 3 IS THE GOAL BUT A SWEEP WOULD BE SWEET.

two out of three a must. the Mets need to make a statement and come out and win game 1. they can not let these Phillies who have a horrible home record, take 2 out of 3 or worse; sweep them. As for the Marlins, very streaky team, lots of holes with not enough money to fill them. They are a .500 team at best and once the Mets get healthy, the Phillies will be their only competition for the NL east crown.
