Coach of the Year

I am stunned that Weinstein was selected as coach of the year. If he would have done his job last year Sachem North Boys would have gone to States TWO years in a row. He's more of a chaperone than a coach as I've never seen him "coach" the boys. Hopefully, he can do a better job with the boys now that his "ace", Novara is graduating in June. Good luck to the team next year.

Longwood Girls get no respect...

Gregg Sarra's "Big 10" rankings are way off the mark regarding Girls Bowling. East Islip's dynasty is a well-deserved #1, with a 200 Avg., Pat-Med is not far behind at #2 with a 197 Avg. Longwood Girls have not lost a match and are averaging 188, which is far superior to Islip's 178 and Smithtown's 160. We must be the Rodney Dangerfield of Girls Bowing, getting no respect for a job well done. In League 2, I have 3 girls in the top 15 Averages, 3 in the top 10 Series and 2 in the top 5 Match Point leaders. C'mon Gregg...get with the program!!!Steve Abrams. LGVB Coach

Beginning of 2008-2009 Nassau County Bowling Season

Hi everyone, I just want to wish everyone in Nassau county bowling good luck this year - let's make it a great season! There have been some very impressive scores in the first few matches... There are two tournaments coming up over the next two saturdays, so get involved in them with your teams and coaches: Saturday December 13 is the annual Levittown 5-person team tournament at North Levittown Lanes - your coaches have information about this already, and it should be a great competitive opportunity! Sign-ins begin at 11:30 AM. Coach Joanne Byrne from Division Ave, and North Levittown Lanes both have more information if you or your coach are interested... Saturday December 20 is the first annual Mixed Doubles tournament being put on by Valley Stream Central and Hewlett High Schools, taking place at Woodmere Lanes in Woodmere - this one should be fun - each school can put together their best TEAM OF TWO - One male and one female bowler! There are already 8 schools being represented, and room for 12 more...Sign-ins begin at 1:00PM, bowling begins at 1:30. For more information on the mixed doubles tournament, email drothbard@valleystream13.com, or MrRothbard44@hotmail.com. Both tournaments will have scholarships and other prizes available, and are both a great opportunity to meet other high school bowlers from across the county...

As this is spreading around the high school bowling community, this past weekend an east islip boys bowler did infact have an illegal ball drilled by his own coach. Now that brings up questions whether or not every other boy had an illegal ball drilled out by their coach which also brings up the question if they really deserved to win counties and states?

I am not an annoyed sports mom, but the captain of my schools team. This is a copy of the letter i sent to Marc Jimenez last week->My nam

High School Bowling coverage

The Suffolk High School Bowling season is 1 week old, most schools have had 2 matches, the boys and girls have had several outstanding games, and the results, which have been called in to Newsday by the winning coaches, have not been published. This is a tremendous disservice to all of the dedicated bowlers who look for their name or at least their school name the day after the match. I realize that the web page is available, but that is a poor excuse. Please attempt to rectify this horrendous situation...sports are for kids!!!
